We heard some murmurs recently about Recruiter productivity being down.. 🤔 Topline metrics may suggest this is the case, but it's not giving us the full story. While hires per recruiter are lower (for obvious reasons: the market), we're seeing a surge in applications, interviews, and interview hours. Maybe we need to start thinking about quality over quantity 🤷♀️ It's clear recruiters are working harder than ever, despite smaller teams and fewer resources. To create a high-performing recruiting team, it seems we may need to adapt to this new reality. We need to optimise our hiring process for efficiency and effectiveness 🚀 What tools are you using for this? Comment below 👇

Do employers have the upper hand now? LinkedIn News tells us that recent data suggests that the power dynamic between employers and employees may be shifting. After employees held the upper hand for quite some time, this trend seems to be reversing. #Salaries are increasing at a slower pace, with many companies cutting back on pay rise budgets. This shift could have significant implications for job seekers and current employees alike. What do you think this means for the future of the #jobmarket? Full article in comments 👇

Our friend Brian Evje recently posted an interesting article in our HIGHER '#stuff-to-read' Slack channel. It's a piece by Llewellyn E. Van Zyl titled 'Are Job Interviews Failing Us?' The article states: 👁 Job interviews only explain 9% of variance in job performance, research finds, leaving 91% unaccounted for. 👁 Both structured and unstructured interviews show low accuracy in predicting task-specific and broader skills. 👁 Unconscious biases heavily influence interview decisions, often overshadowing key job-related competencies. 👁 Overemphasis on cultural fit can lead to workplace homogeneity and neglect of actual performance capabilities. ''91 percent of what determines how well someone will do in a job is completely missed by the interview process. It's like trying to predict the outcome of a chess match by watching the players set up the board. Interviews are thus not valid tools to assess people’s capabilities and the illusion that it is an accurate tool is costing businesses dearly''. Llewellyn E. Van Zyl also gives some very useful tips to improve our hiring process, here's a high-level synopsis: 💥 Focus on past performance 💥 Structured interviews with flexibility 💥 Strike a balance with semi-structured interviews 💥 Leverage technology 💥 Emphasize cultural contribution, not just fit Full article in comments, please share your thoughts 💭
