Abode (house wrapped in plastic): "I can't believe my owner let the contractor do this. I'm wrapped in plastic siding and insulation, for crying out loud! It's sticking to every part of me. This is a nightmare!" Casita (house next door, laughing): "Come on, it's not that bad! It's “cheap and fast” said the contractor! You said you wanted new siding, remember?" Abode: "New siding, yes. This... isn't what I meant by 'new siding.' I feel like a plastic burrito! A sweaty, suffocating, miserable burrito." Casita: "Well, you're definitely wrapped like a burrito. Look, the plastic insulation and siding is supposed to be, I don’t know, a “one and done” siding solution or something. It's all over social media—people swear by it! Think of this... like a plastic face lift! Abode: "Social media also swears by eating Tide pods. I don't think they know what they're talking about. I’m literally vacuum-sealed like a bag of carrots. My skin is not breathing. I’m not breathing. I’m damp! This is not an upgrade—this is borderline torture to my timbers!" Casita: "Wow, you're being a little dramatic, aren’t you? You’re fine. Sealed, refreshed—" Abode: "I don’t care about being “refreshed” right now. I care about not feeling like I’m stuck in a sauna wrapped in cling film! My sheathing is molding, my indoor air is moist, my window trim is leaking... Are you sure this is even safe?" Casita: “Hmmm, I’m not sure, I guess it depends if the contractor installed it right.....” Would you like to be wrapped in plastic? Your wood framed building doesn’t like it either. Highland Park has created a breathable, bio-based cladding replacement system that insulates, clads, and avoids trapped moisture. So your building won’t get that gross sweaty feeling. #renovation #siding #upgrade #automation #prefab #parametricdesign #exteriorretrofit #deepenergyretrofit #DER #organic #biobased #hybridautomation #architecture #facade #carbonnuetral Highland Park Technologies Autodesk Technology Centers City of Boston Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Lawrence Gennari Jonathan Berk Gregory Maynard Minkoo Kang FORGE Sean Kelly-Rand Journal Of Light Construction Green Building Advisor

Abode: That is the cutest insulated jacket! Is that new? Casita: Thanks! Yeah, I just got it. It’s actually custom-made. Abode: Custom-made? Wow, that’s fancy! Where’d you get it done? Casita: There’s this local company called Highland Park who specializes in custom designs for insulated cladding. I picked out the color, the style, even the trim. It took a few weeks, but it was totally worth the wait. Abode: That’s amazing! The fit is perfect. It looks like it was made just for you, which I guess it literally was. Casita: Haha, exactly! I wanted something that fit well and had a bit of my own style. It’s so much better than just buying off the rack. Abode: No kidding. I always struggle to find jackets that fit right in the eves and don't make my addition look too big. How much did it set you back, if you don’t mind me asking? Casita: It was about the same cost as a regular coat. I figured if I’m going to invest in a jacket I wanted one that looks fire and saves me money on energy too! Abode: Totally makes sense. It looks so warm! I want a re-clad too! Casita: It’s so worth it! Infinite design possibilities. Its a Highland Park. I wasn’t sure about the fit, but it turned out better than I expected." Abode: "It really does fit you well. Is it warm, too?" Casita: "Oh yeah, super warm. It’s got this cozy lining inside and its mostly organic! Perfect for colder days! I'm using way less energy to stay warm, SOOO much better for the planet." Abode: "Nice! I might have to get one myself. You’ll have to take me to that website sometime soon." Casita: "Absolutely, let's look this weekend. They have a ton of styles you’d love!
