Jason Richardson from Bad Birdie on the pod this week with me and Mike Wu. Why listen? A) Bootstrapped an apparel company to tens of millions in revenue. 🤠 B) Went on Shark Tank and got a deal done over a high stakes putt 🦈 C) Disrupted the golf apparel industry and made it cool ⛳ All of those accomplishments are individually deserving of a longer interview, but my greatest takeaway from this conversation with Jason was something else completely. For someone with a less traditional business background (previously worked in commercial production), Jason's ability to seek feedback, find/leverage expertise and build an incredible company culture is remarkable. He didn't have the benefit of picking those things up as an employee at a high-growth startup. This is all learned from mentors, consultants, advisors, networking groups, books and through trial and error. I think most entrepreneurs can relate to having that "gut sense" for when you know someone is going to make it no matter what they do or the circumstances. This is the feeling I get talking to Jason. He's too talented, too open to learning and too aware of what he doesn't know to NOT BE SUCCESSFUL. The golf course is a better looking place because of Bad Birdie and I'm a better entrepreneur for knowing and having this wonderful conversation with Jason. Please listen and share!
