Hiring Our Heroes invites you to remember and honor America’s veterans by sponsoring a wreath for National Wreaths Across America Day. Your wreath sponsorship will ensure that the legacy of duty, service, and sacrifice of our veterans is never forgotten. And at the same time, your wreath sponsorship also supports Hiring Our Heroes’ employment events and programs. Please consider sponsoring a wreath in memory of those who served. We recently had the privilege of accompanying Medal of Honor recipient and Staff Sgt. (Retired) Clint Romesha during his visit to Colorado. This trip was a profound experience that left us inspired and motivated for several reasons. First, it was during this visit that we learned that Fort Carson, like many other duty stations, has nearly 400 service members transitioning out of the military each month. That’s 400 service members and approximately 200 military spouses separating from military service and bringing their skill sets to corporate America. It’s an astounding number. So, when HOH and Toyota North America Ambassador Clint Romesha talked to hundreds of service members about the importance of planning for their transitions, we witnessed firsthand how the HOH ambassador visits are more than grip-and-grin photo ops. It’s a way to change the conversation about military transition to a plan of success after military life and a focus on the positives for those who decide to stay in the military. Next, Clint’s visit reminded us that HOH ambassadors bring incredible, life-changing experiences to their conversations. That couldn’t have been more paramount than when Clint joined 4th Infantry Division Commanding General Maj. Gen. David Doyle, Fort Carson Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Mortensen, Fort Carson Garrison Commander Col. Erik Oksenvaag, and others to break ground on Fort Carson’s new “Freedom Gate.” The renamed Gate 1 “Freedom Gate” honors three 4th Infantry Division Medal of Honor recipients (Clint, Staff Sgt. Ty Carter, and Capt. Florent Groberg) for their heroic actions in the name of freedom. "Freedom Gate will be a testament to their legacy and a daily reminder for those who travel through this installation of the price of freedom," Doyle said at the ceremony. Finally, Clint’s visit took us to Comcast’s West Region office in Denver, where he shared his military transition story with Comcast military-connected employee resource group members. We are grateful for the chance to join Clint for this visit to Colorado. His visit was a powerful reminder of the bravery and dedication of our veterans. Thank you, Clint, for sharing your story and supporting the military community as a Hiring Our Heroes ambassador. Hiring Our Heroes ambassadors shine a light on military transition and veteran and military spouse careers, highlighting resources and best practices for military-connected job seekers and educating employers and community leaders on the value of veteran and military spouse talent. The program, launched in 2012 with support from Toyota, reaches tens of thousands of members of the military community annually.  Learn More: https://bit.ly/3yFwRoh Mona Dexter | Michael McCoy, CMVR | Brett Miles | Eric Eversole | Elizabeth OBrien | Meredith Lozar |
