Celebrating Sintia’s first year at HFSV 🌟 We celebrate how our team's unique backgrounds enhance our mission to increase Latino representation in STEM careers. Today, we honor Sintia Marquez Jimenez on her first work anniversary with #HFSV! Just weeks before last year's Ball, she joined our team and impressed us with her quick learning and creativity in fundraising. As a first-generation college graduate raised in San Jose, Sintia understands the challenges our community faces, from financial barriers to imposter syndrome. Her Economics and Math background, coupled with her personal experiences, equips her to support students and families through HFSV’s programs. Diversity and inclusion have fueled Sintia’s growth, inspiring her to advocate for #SiliconValleyLatinos. Thank you, Sintia, for all your hard work and dedication! 🎉

This month, we proudly partnered with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Familias Unidas to host a successful Noche de Ciencias at the North Fair Oaks Community Center! 🚀🔬 Our goal was to ignite curiosity for #STEMEducation and show families that higher education is possible and within reach. We welcomed over 150 Latino families from our Parent Education Academies for an inspiring evening filled with mentorship, a keynote address by Jose Luiz Sarabia Torres, President of SHPE Silicon Valley Chapter, an engaging STEM activity, and a Q&A session with SHPE mentors and our Latinos in Technology Scholars, who shared valuable insights on navigating college applications. Special thanks to the SHPE team and Familias Unidas; we keep inspiring and connecting our communities! #HFSV #SiliconValleyLatinos

This week, our CEO Kyra Kazantzis attended the Stanford Social Innovation Review's Nonprofit Management Institute, together with a number of nonprofit leaders from around the world. Here's some of our Santa Clara County crew; what a great group of changemakers. One of the highlights was hearing a keynote from Cynthia Bissett Germanotta, the president of the Born This Way Foundation (aka Lady Gaga's mom!). Thanks to the The David and Lucile Packard Foundation for sponsoring attendance for so many of our local colleagues. We continue celebrating how our team's unique backgrounds and experiences enhance our mission of increasing Latino representation in STEM careers. #HispanicHeritageMonth 🌟 Meet Clara Roa, HFSV's Chief Development & Operations Officer🌟 Clara's immigration journey from Colombia to the U.S. gives her a deep understanding of Latino families' challenges in navigating new educational systems. Her experiences drive her commitment to creating academically supportive and culturally relevant programs. Arriving in the U.S. for graduate school, she faced significant cultural and language barriers despite being academically prepared. This experience highlighted for her the need for support systems that acknowledge and address cultural differences and ensure our programs reflect these values. Clara's unique perspective as an immigrant drives her advocacy for inclusion and diversity in STEM. By aligning our mission with the real needs of our community, Clara helps us provide programs that truly resonate and support the next generation of #SiliconValleyLatinos. Join us in celebrating the exceptional voices that strengthen our mission!
