HMRI wishes to express heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of John M. Boyle, PhD. John was a cherished colleague and passionate scientist who passed away on August 9, 2024. John joined HMRI as a staff scientist in the Translational Pluripotent Stem Cell program in May 2024. Although he was only with us briefly, he had already begun to make valuable contributions to the new program. John grew up in Pasadena. He was happy to return to his hometown, where he could continue doing the scientific work for which he was so passionate. John expressed that his work at HMRI was his dream job. A public celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 1 pm at the Valley Hunt Club in #Pasadena. Postdoctoral fellows from HMRI's Neurosciences laboratories, Kazi Helal Hossain, PhD; Joby Jose, PhD, and Abdulhakim Al-Ezzi, PhD, attended the 2024 Society for Neuroscience (SFN) conference in Chicago from October 5 to October 9 to present their research posters. SFN is the world's largest organization of scientists who work in the field of Neuroscience. Approximately 30,000 scientists from more than 70 countries and hundreds of companies exhibiting at the conference attended this year. This is an excellent opportunity for early career scientists to gain exposure to the field. "For young researchers like me, it was a fantastic chance to learn new concepts and share our research findings," said Jose. "It was an excellent opportunity to network with other scientists working in the same research area and exchange ideas about future research projects." The researchers were exposed to insightful lectures, various companies, and the latest equipment and techniques. "It was a privilege for me to give a presentation on behalf of HMRI and receive input on my research findings from several esteemed scientists," Jose added. "It will benefit my postdoctoral fellow career and help me develop new research ideas." #postdoc #SFN24 #neuroscience
