CONGRATULATIONS to our Hunter Brain Injury Service (HBIS) and District Sustainability Project teams, whose Local Circular Solutions for Food Waste project was selected as one of 25 global case studies included in the UN’s recent Nature Positive for Climate Action Report. The report was showcased by UN Climate Change Champion, Her Excellency Razan Al Mubarak, on the back of Climate Week NYC. Through growing fresh produce, composting, worm farming, and conducting weekly kitchen audits, the team has: 🍃 Diverted 120kg of food waste from landfill per year 🍃 Reduced emissions by 130kg of CO2 equivalent 🍃 Decreased the services average food spend by 49% The project has not only generated significant environmental and financial benefits through a focus on food waste reduction, but patient-led sustainability activities in the HBIS therapy garden have supported recovery and rehabilitation for those with acquired brain injury. Celebrating love and memories at Denman MPS 💖 Molly, an administration officer at Denman MPS, was overjoyed to help make a dream come true for late palliative care patient, Toni. 💍✨ Toni was diagnosed with cancer and given less than 6 months to live. She was admitted to Denman MPS for palliative care where she spent the last 4 weeks of her life. Her only request was to be married, as she was engaged for 19 years. Toni stepped out to marry her longtime love, Ben, surrounded by love and support. Molly worked on making her room a little more special for their return, unbeknown to Toni and her family. With the creative talents of Molly’s niece, they were able to create a heartfelt space for the newlyweds to enjoy. 🎀🌸 It’s moments like these that showcase the true heart of our staff and the incredible care they bring to our patients and their families. Thank you, Molly, for going above and beyond to create a lasting memory for Toni, Ben and their family. 🥂💍🤍 #HNEHealth #DenmanMPS #PalliativeCare #Married
