Ever consider a trip to the Great Lakes? This #ROCKtober, take a behind-the-scenes look at our Marblehead, Presque Isle and Smelter Bay aggregate sites. These are some of the places where rock, stone, sand and gravel are produced to support the region's most vital infrastructure projects, delivered straight to where they’re needed thanks to our direct connection to Lakes Erie and Huron.

Our largest solar array in the Midwest is fully operational and soaking up the sun! ☀️ The 100 acres of solar arrays at our Alpena (MI) plant are now: ♻️ Generating 80% of the facility's electric power with clean energy. ♻️ Reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 25,000 tons per year. This milestone, achieved in partnership with NorthStar Clean Energy, helps accelerate a path forward for the community we've served for more than 115 years and fulfill our pledge of powering all US operations with 100% renewable energy by 2030.

Congrats to Cody Bush for scoring 100% on the written test at the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Mixer Driver Championship. 🏆 Cody also recently won first place at the Colorado RMX Truck Driver Rodeo. Way to represent, Cody! An additional shout out to Tiffany Berry for her outstanding performance representing the company on the national stage. Congratulations to the Populus team on the opening of the hotel! 🎉 It’s been a privilege to work alongside The Beck Group & Urban Villages in developing this groundbreaking project, bringing their vision to life with our innovative building materials. Our ECOPact™ low-carbon concrete reduced overall construction emissions by 24%, and it will continue to make an environmentally forward impact during the hotel’s operational stages. For #Rocktober, we're shining a light on our aggregates operations. Across the nation at our quarries, pits and docks, our aggregates employees produce the essential raw materials found in every construction project, from the homes we live in to the roads we travel.

From Colorado to Massachusetts and Illinois, giving back to our communities is both a privilege and a responsibility. 💚 In Colorado, our ready mix team donated 50 two-way radios for local school buses. Manager Steve Montoya says, “This contribution aims to enhance safety and efficiency within the transportation system, benefiting the children and our community.” 💚 To celebrate National Food Bank Day, our Northeast Regional team hosted a month-long donation drive to support and feed local families. Our team raised $86,300 this year, which will help non-profit Table of Plenty fight food insecurity year-round. 💚 Having a place to live is a basic human need. Four Chicago volunteers worked on several houses to support Habitat for Humanity Chicago's mission of providing affordable housing.

Connecting people across state lines... like the new I-76 Bridge, connecting New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Combining Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) methods and our Ductal® (UHPC), the bridge was replaced with minimal disruptions to rush hour traffic. Ductal's unmatched longevity and strength will enhance this critical infrastructure's integrity for generations to come. See the case study: https://bit.ly/3Bil7ZM

🌊 Clean waterways are crucial for supporting biodiversity and maintaining healthy ecosystems. Recently, our Supply Chain Team joined forces with Living Lands & Waters at the Ohio River — the third largest river by discharge volume in the US and the largest tributary to the Mississippi — to remove 2,668 pounds of trash in just one day.

🤝 Communicating with lawmakers helps keep Washington up to speed on our industry. Our Ada (OK) cement plant welcomed US Congressman Tom Cole for a tour and town hall conversation with employees, where our production techniques, decarbonization efforts, and the upcoming company spinoff were discussed.
