Only 1 in 500 Gen AI/ML talent candidates pass our rigorous assessments and get introduced to clients. Rafael Costa is one of them. He is currently leading proofs of concept and rapid prototyping for one of our PE/VC clients. A Brazilian with no advanced degree in machine learning, Rafael passed our toughest evaluations and interviews—selected from hundreds of assessments each week and impressing even the most challenging hiring managers. The client was so impressed with Rafael that they kept coming back for more talent like him. We were curious about his story and felt compelled to share it with others who might be on a similar path. "I've been passionate about coding since high school," Rafael told us. "After graduating in computer science, I did several internships but realized I needed to learn more. I enrolled in a master's program for Data Science and Machine Learning. However, I soon realized the program wasn't meeting my expectations. In a bold move, I decided to drop out and continue educating myself independently." He pushed himself relentlessly, constantly learning new things on his own. We asked him what he thought set him apart in the selection process. "I'm a generalist," Rafael said. "I've been exposed to various problem sets and scenarios. When faced with a new challenge during the interview, I strategically laid out different solutions—Plan A, Plan B, Plan C. I could articulate my approach, and I think that resonated with the hiring manager." Outside of work, Rafael lives with his dog Tito 🐶 , visits his parents on weekends, goes to the gym every morning, and loves traveling—recently spending three weeks exploring Thailand. Curious about his favorite project, we asked him which experience meant the most to him. "One of my most meaningful projects was during the 2016 Rio Olympics," he shared. "I helped the city improve public transport, impacting the lives of thousands. It wasn't about profit; it was about helping people." His connection to Brazilian culture shines through in his dedication to the community. "It's all about people and community," Rafael said. "That's what drives me—helping others and staying connected." Hearing Rafael's story was deeply moving. Despite his professional achievements, he measures success by the positive impact he has on others. It reminded us that there's a subtle, unspoken language that connects us all—a shared humanity rooted in our innate desire to help one another. We believe in us as humans, in our capacity for compassion and connection. We all possess unique talents and potential, and through our work, we have the chance to bring them to life. Work is more than just a job—it’s a means to manifest our true selves. We dream of a world where everyone can just realize this and never stop until they reach their true potential. Because of this project, Rafael has learned entirely new skills that were previously out of reach. That's the impact we are passionate about.

Interdisciplinary collaboration → Connecting AI with business, design, and beyond. In today's market, the best AI hires aren’t just tech-savvy; they know how to create real impact by blending technology with business strategy. Our secret weapon for spotting top talent in AI/ML (you might be missing this crucial step) When reviewing resumes, there's one thing we always look for: continuous learning. Here’s why it matters: → Growth mindset: Candidates who are constantly learning demonstrate adaptability. → Relevance: The field evolves fast; staying updated shows commitment. → Problem-solving: New skills often lead to innovative solutions. (hint: It’s not just about degrees or certifications) In interviews, we dig into how candidates apply their learning: → Real-world projects: Have they implemented what they’ve learned? → Mentorship: Are they sharing knowledge with peers? → Challenges: How do they overcome obstacles when learning something new? If you're job seeking, remember this: Highlight your learning journey. It’s not just about what you know; it’s about how you grow. Embrace learning, and it’ll set you apart. #RecruiterTips #Learning #ResumeTips

We've reviewed hundreds of resumes and conducted countless screening calls. One thing that still surprises us is how often candidates overlook the importance of showcasing their problem-solving skills. When we're reviewing a resume or speaking with a candidate, we're not just looking for technical expertise - we're looking for evidence of how they've applied that expertise to real-world problems. Can you walk us through your thought process when approaching a complex data set? How do you handle missing or noisy data? What insights have you uncovered in your previous roles, and how did you communicate those insights to stakeholders? Too often, candidates focus solely on listing their technical skills, without providing context or examples of how they've used those skills to drive business outcomes. But it's precisely this ability to drive business outcomes that sets top candidates apart. If you're a job seeker in the AI/ML/DS field, I encourage you to take a closer look at your resume and online profiles. Are you showcasing your problem-solving skills, or just listing your technical credentials? Consider adding specific examples of how you've applied your expertise to real-world problems, and be prepared to walk a recruiter/hiring manager through your thought process during a conversation. What are some ways you've showcased your problem-solving skills in your job search? Share your experiences in the comments below! #RecruiterTips #ProblemSolving #Softskills
