With the Piezo Tool System (PTS), HORN and Kistler Group have developed a solution for optimizing tool life by monitoring cutting forces in real time. By combining their expertise in the field of precision tools and dynamic, modular measurement technology, the two companies have succeeded in integrating force sensors precisely into numerous machining applications. Piezoelectric measurement technology enables the high-resolution measurement of small cutting forces in metalworking. #HORN #HornUSA #Kistler #PrecisionManufacturing #Precision #PTS #PiezoToolSystem

In TITANS of CNC MACHINING's latest video, Trevor Goforth puts our Mono-Crystalline Diamond (MCD) tools to the test. Using an extremely budget-friendly machine in tandem with HORN's System DS MCD Ballnose Endmill, Trevor was able to achieve a surface finish of <8 µin. (<0.2 µm) Ra. With MCD-tipped tools, HORN offers the possibility of producing mirror-like surfaces with roughness in the nanometer range. This is enabled by a flawless cutting edge on the tool, which can only be realized with monocrystalline diamonds (MCD). "Why don't we build motorcycles in France?" That's what Olivier Midy thought when he started the development of his own motorcycle over 30 years ago. Since the start, around 300,000 hours have gone into the development of the Midual Type 1. Midy has built numerous technical specialties into the bike, paying attention to perfection down to the smallest detail. With an eye on precisely these details, HORN supports Midy and his team with precision tools that are used to build this work of motorcycle art. "We rely on tools from Germany because we need solutions that can fulfil our high-quality requirements," says Midy. https://lnkd.in/epKcXXSk #HORN #HornUSA #applicationstory

No other instrument arouses as many emotions among the public as the electric guitar. The instrument plays a central role in most music genres and has characterized generations of musicians since the 1930s. In addition to mass-produced guitars, there are also small, craft luthiers that perfect the construction of electric guitars down to the smallest detail. Marc Locher is one such luthier. With his company EBG-Instruments, he is breaking new ground, but also holding on to old traditions. A current project, a custom Telecaster-style guitar, uses both additive and traditional manufacturing for the production and finishing of titanium parts as well as CVD diamond cutters being used in shaping the body of the guitar. Locher received support from HORN for this project. One of the biggest challenges in internal machining is the generation of long swarf. Depending on the material, boring often leads to ribbons that wrap around the tool, clog holes or, in the worst case, lead to tool breakage. This is where chip breaking geometry can help. With the new Supermini type 105, HORN has succeeded in developing a universal boring tool with sintered chip breaking geometry. The tool offers high process reliability due to its excellent chip control. eShop: https://lnkd.in/eyvPy7kx Read more in our latest edition of World of Tools: https://lnkd.in/ejt5jYCr #HORN #ExploreHORN #HornUSA #Supermini #sinteredgeometry

With the new tool generation of the DG modular interchangeable head milling system, HORN has optimized the interface between the cutting head and shank for greater versatility, stability and higher changeover precision. This is made possible by the new, solid carbide monoblock design of the replaceable head. The interface and the desired cutting edge shape are precision ground from a carbide blank. The system achieves high precision through a guide pin, a precision trapezoidal thread and a taper/flat contact. This thoughtful design allows for a changeover accuracy in the µ range. #HORN #HornUSA #ExploreHORN #milling #precisionmachining
