  • HOSA members had an unforgettable experience visiting Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. A special highlight was when IEC members, President Nicholas Ballard and President-elect Ria Mohan, had the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier 🇺🇸🪦 This ceremony is a profound tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, symbolizing remembrance and honor. Laying a wreath represents eternity and bravery, ensuring that our heroes are never forgotten. #HOSA #Leadership #WreathLaying #Honor #Military

We at Kaiser Permanente are genuinely excited to embrace the promising future of health care by welcoming HOSA-Future Health Professionals students from Alexander High School of Douglas County. Our on-site simulation lab has become a nurturing environment where these aspiring professionals hone their basic life support skills. This initiative goes beyond education; it fuels their passion and determination to create meaningful change. Today, we are incredibly proud to witness these students transforming their classroom knowledge into practical, hands-on experience. #InspiringFutureHealthcareHeroes

  • During our annual SAM conference, HOSA state advisors had the opportunity to attend an engaging lunch and information session hosted by the American Red Cross 🏥 Earlier this year at ILC, they offered a free CPR training that allowed participants to become CPR certified by the end of the session! 📌 One member excitedly shared, "The CPR training was so good, I could probably teach it next year!" As we look ahead to another impactful year, we’re excited to continue partnering with the American Red Cross to make a real difference. 🚑💡 #HOSA #SAMConference #Healthcare #CPRTraining #FutureLeaders #Partnerships #Leaderships

Our CEO Kate Fry shared some valuable insights with over 500 members and advisors of HOSA-Future Health Professionals at their Washington Leadership Academy this week. She spoke about the power of being proactive in policy discussions, emphasizing the importance of healthcare advocacy. Remember, "Get rid of the mystique of Congress, and remember, if you're not at the table, you're on the menu." We are proud to be national partners with HOSA, working together to ensure that student voices are heard loud and clear during important healthcare discussions. #advocacy #HOSA #students #education #blooddonation #Congress

Healthcare Education Leader | Advocate | DC HOSA State Advisor | Optimist | Passionately Curious | Deeply Intuitive | Driven to Deliver Excellence | Passionate about Developing Future Healthcare Professionals

Connecting the Dots: Reflections from HOSA's 18th WLA Conference As DC HOSA-fhp ‘s State Advisor, I'm thrilled to share insights from our recent 18th Washington Leadership Academy (WLA) conference. This year's event, our largest yet, concluded with an inspiring address by Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq. from the APA Foundation. His message resonated deeply with me, emphasizing connection, kindness, and strategic teamwork in healthcare leadership. Key Takeaways: The Art of Connecting Dots Andrews shared powerful metaphors about self-awareness, kindness, and breaking silos. He stressed the importance of serving in teams while leveraging our individual superpowers. His call to "lean into trust" and avoid turning our backs on our teams particularly struck a chord with me. The RACI System: A Framework for Effective Teamwork I found the RACI system Andrews introduced particularly valuable: - R - esponsible: Who does the work? - A - uthorizer: Who makes decisions? - C - onsultants: Who provides input? - I - nformed: Who needs to be kept in the loop? This system will be instrumental in organizing our DC HOSA teams more effectively. The 5 Rights to Prevent a Wrong: Andrews' "5 Rights" principle resonated strongly with our DC HOSA goals: "Right people, in right places, doing the right things at the right times at the right cost." Looking Ahead: “Whole and Well” I'm excited to share that Andrews' organization will offer a 2.5-hour training session for education-related personnel, aiming to bring us closer to a "Whole and Well" world. This aligns perfectly with our mission at DC HOSA. DC HOSA: Embracing the Connection As we implement these insights into our DC HOSA programs, Our team and officers are committed to fostering self-aware, kind, and collaborative future health professionals. I invite all our members, advisors, and supporters to reflect on these messages. How can we better connect our dots? How can we ensure we're in the right places, doing the right things, at the right times? Let's continue this conversation and work together to shape the future of healthcare leadership. Oh the places you’ll go…..I just returned from a trip to our nations capital to provide 3 days of leadership training with 140 young people associated with HOSA. To say my bucket was filled is an understatement. We worked hard to establish team strengths and what characteristics were still needed, discussed conflict resolution by writing letters to extra terrestrials, and put our skills to the test by completing team challenges. What a great group. I was honored to be part of the #hosafamily !HOSA-Future Health Professionals
