MYTH: High-density and affordable housing will cause too much traffic. FACT: Affordable housing residents own fewer cars and drive less. Higher-density housing encourages nearby retail, walkability, and transit use. Mixed-use areas help manage traffic by reducing non-work trips. With more residents, local stores open, and transit becomes more viable, thriving at densities of 8-10 units per acre. Source: https://bit.ly/3NFR7dk

We are committed to second chances. As Housing Collaborative grew into what it is today, we witnessed the barriers that not only kept people from finding affordable housing, but also kept them from moving forward in life. Our goal is to use what we’ve learned about second-chance employment to encourage other employers to provide the same opportunities.

MYTH: High-density development strains public services and infrastructure. FACT: Compact development actually improves these. Higher-density housing requires fewer infrastructure networks than sprawl. This reduces costs, and in effect, the savings can lower expenses for new residents and support community fiscal stability. Infill development, or reusing previously developed land, taps into existing infrastructure and unused service capacity, saving money for both taxpayers and residents. It also promotes better access to public transit and local services, boosting economic activity and increasing retail sales. Source: https://bit.ly/3NFR7dk

THIS IS INCREDIBLE. Our team was able to complete 245 housing placements in Q3, securing homes for 498 people between July and September. We are so grateful for the support of partners and donors who help make this possible. 🤍 Visit bit.ly/HousingCollab to learn more about our work.
