It's unanimous! Resident Advisory Council on Housing (RACH) members, together with other allies, rallied to support restoring Down Payment Assistance (DPA) to the City's 2025 budget. Alice Pugh, Secretary of the RACH, testified on the importance of DPA. Thank you to Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, Chair of the Finance and Personnel Committee, and Alderman Scott Spiker, Vice Chair of the Committee, for sponsoring a total of $1.2 million in DPA! Thank you also to the many co-sponsors, including council members Brostoff, Burgelis, Chambers, Coggs, Moore, President Pérez, Stamper, and Zamarripa! #CollectiveImpact #QualityHousing #CommunityDevelopmentAlliance

CDA is a group of affordable housing funders & other stakeholders collaborating to create affordable housing in MKE
About us
Community Development Alliance (CDA) is an affiliation of stakeholders that has collaborated for more than a decade on neighborhood improvement efforts in Milwaukee. Recognizing that housing inequities are deep and broad, and prohibit families from building generational wealth, CDA narrowed its focus in 2020 to providing a quality, affordable home for every Milwaukeean. What resulted from this work is Milwaukee’s Collective Affordable Housing Plan, the first of its kind. Composed of over 80 housing advocates, funders, and practitioners, CDA is responsible for collective action around the plan, which includes strategy development, shared measurement, and continuous communication. Our alliance has engaged contractors for communications, government relations, resident engagement, and research related to Plan Implementation. We continue to work towards growing resources within our alliance to meet additional legal and evaluation support as well. As part of our community commitment CDA hosts quarterly meetings of all stakeholders, typically drawing nearly 100 participants. The alliance is governed by a 14-member executive committee that includes resident liaisons, together with leadership in the public, private, and philanthropic sectors.

This past week the Dominican Center experienced two back-to-back burglaries, resulting in over $12,000 in losses. This organization is a vital part of the Amani community. Can you help them replace their items? Please donate and share.

What an incredible event. THANK YOU to all who joined us last week at the "Building a Homeowner and Future Homeowner Bill of Rights" event. Special appreciation for Lafayette Crump, Shakita L., Jon Searles, our Resident Advisory Council on Housing, our Alliance Panel comprised of Maricha Harris, Shakita L., Natasha Mays-Gray, Tammy L. Rivera, Drea Rodriguez, and Demetria Smith, Camille Mays for facilitating a healing break, and Ex Fabula tellers for sharing their inspirational stories. And a big thank you to all who attended and contributed their time and thoughts. We are working to bring together collaborators who are dedicated to increasing homeownership for all Milwaukeeans, regardless of their race. We have heard from residents and community organizations that to do this, we must also address displacement and gentification. That's what our event was about: discussing solutions to this issue that affects communities across America. We have some great ideas; now it's time to continue the work! What a great day for Milwaukee! Last Friday, Cordella Jones, CDA’s collaboration director, participated in Mayor Johnson’s news conference at Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity to announce the $3.4 million C-SITE grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop all-electric, affordable net-zero energy homes in our city. This project is a crucial part of the Milwaukee Climate and Equity Plan, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions while promoting racial and economic equity. By building Zero-Energy Ready Homes on vacant lots in underserved communities, we’re taking bold steps toward making Milwaukee a greener and more sustainable city. #CollectiveImpact #QualityHomes #CommunityDevelopmentAlliance
