Thank you to everyone who joined HSC for our Annual Membership Meeting yesterday! We had some engaging discussions on HSC’s upcoming collective advocacy efforts, including our #JustPay workforce campaign, procurement reform, and crisis resilience. A special thank you to New York City Council Member Justin Brannan for speaking with members about his leadership on procurement reform, and to Jason Ortiz from Moonshot Strategies for giving us the latest on City and State politics. Together, we look forward to another year of advocating for a stronger, more equitable nonprofit human services sector. 💪 #HumanServices #Nonprofits #Membership

✍ Sign on your organization by OCTOBER 9 to support the sustainability of human services organizations! We're joining with partners across the State to collectively ask the Governor to include a 7.8% investment inclusive of ALL State-contracted human services providers, using the existing cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) mechanism, in the 2025-26 Executive Budget Proposal. This investment will provide the necessary resources to make meaningful progress in addressing inflationary increases and raising wages for direct care and frontline workers - impacting over 800,000 human services workers and thousands of human services providers across New York. “We have close to 2,000 older adults registered at our Older Adult Centers with only three city-funded case workers to help them…Those caseworkers barely make a living wage themselves.” New op-ed from HSC member Jeremy Kaplan, Executive Director of Encore Community Services, advocates for the City to invest in critical older adult services: https://lnkd.in/gZBQeaSG #JustPay #HumanServices #Nonprofits #Aging

📣 Deadline extended! HSC still needs direct input from nonprofit human services providers to keep up the fight for procurement reform. We've extended the deadline for our 2024 Procurement Survey to SEPTEMBER 25. Help highlight the contracting system by taking our anonymous, 15-minute survey collecting “moment in time” information about your organization's experience contracting with the City. This survey will help ensure we address the real challenges you face and do not overlook critical issues. Your input will help us present data to elected officials and strengthen our materials to push for change. Just 15 minutes of your time can help improve the system for all of us! Take the survey today: https://lnkd.in/d7ASPU9U #HumanServices #Procurement #Contracting
