    National Family Meals Month may have come to an end but enjoying meals as a family never stops. Studies show that families who spend mealtime together improve communication and nutrition, and strengthen family relationships — no matter how you define family. Thank you to our great partner, Sheletta Brundidge, for producing our video series featuring families discussing the importance of mealtimes together. Our final video features Estrella who talks about how life moves so fast, the need to slow down, catch up and have a great healthy, homecooked meal.

    September is National Family Meals Month and Hy-Vee is bringing families to the table. Since 2014, Hy-Vee has supported FMI- The Food Industry Association Foundation’s initiative to help families come together during mealtime. Studies show that families who spend mealtime together improve communication and nutrition, and strengthen family relationships — no matter how you define family. We’ve partnered with media personality Sheletta Brundidge on a video series featuring families discussing the importance of mealtime in different cultures. Today, we see how The Fatou Family enjoys jollof rice, a traditional West African dish, eating together from one big bowl. This family firmly believe that a family that eats together, stays together.

    As part of Hy-Vee’s ongoing commitment to advancing small businesses, we welcomed more than 400 entrepreneurs and guests at our Hy-Vee OpportUNITY Inclusive Business Summit in Kansas City. Attendees had a full day of networking, breakout sessions, mentoring and a resource expo. The highlight of the day was the pitch competition where Hy-Vee awarded a total of $50,000 to six businesses with BāKIT Box winning the grand prize of $30,000. Thank you to all our attendees, expo partners and speakers for making this summit our largest to date!

    It’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and we want to give special recognition to five Helpful Smiles who reached a very important milestone. The following drivers will be inducted into the Hy-Vee Road of Gold Hall of Fame for reaching 1 million consecutive miles of safe driving. ·     Galen Black, Chariton Distribution Center ·     Justin Clausen, Cherokee Distribution Center ·     Loren Friedrichsen, Cherokee Distribution Center ·     Terry Selk, Cherokee Distribution Center ·     Jeff Thomas, Chariton Distribution Center The Road of Gold program first began in 1990 to recognize our drivers for their exemplary driving records as they transport product to and from our stores across the Midwest.     National Hispanic Heritage Month starts Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 15. This annual celebration recognizes the independence of several Latin American countries, and honors the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. This month, we’re showcasing our Hispanic products and recipes in our stores and online, plus helping sponsor a number of Hispanic Heritage Festivals across Hy-Vee's territory.

    To mark the beginning of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we are thrilled to introduce our newest 3-Million-Mile Driver! Congratulations to Phil Spence, driver for our Chariton Distribution Center. While headed south with deliveries for stores in Manhattan, Kansas, and Liberty, Missouri, Phil reached the 3-million-mile mark. Phil has served as a Hy-Vee Helpful Smile since 1977 and is only the fifth Hy-Vee driver to reach the 3-million milestone. Congratulations, Phil!

Congratulations to Debra Coufal, a Starbucks barista and department manager at the Columbus, Nebraska, Hy-Vee since 2006, is one of Hy-Vee's 2024 winners of the Legendary Customer Service Award. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in providing service that exceeds customers’ expectations. Only 13 winners were selected from among more than 75,000 Hy-Vee employees across eight states, and were nominated by their coworkers and customers.
