Are you looking for a way to support community organisations in your region? This is what our Gift of Communication in Wodonga looked like on Friday. Eight community groups and small not-for-profits benefitted from the experience of eleven communication professionals. The groups arrived with their challenges, received individual advice and left with plans for what to do next, as well as a broader understanding of the core communication and marketing considerations. There was a lot of similarity in what the groups brought to the table and in how invested they all are in helping their communities. They represented small local town groups, arts organisations, a U3A group, a Lions Club, a leadership program and a youth support agency. The individuals and communications professionals enjoyed the networking experience, made new connections and discovered opportunities for collaboration. We thank Dr Helen Haines MP who donated a prize. Huge thanks to all those who volunteered and contributed to make this day possible, especially the local Border North East Communications Network members and North East Water for free use of the venue. If your team or region is looking for a professional development experience that helps your community and puts smiles on faces, the Gift of Communication is one to consider.
