We are thrilled that our founder & CEO, Sumona De Graaf will be moderating a panel at the London Future of Work Conference on November 13. In this opening keynote session, she'll be exploring what HR's role is (and needs to be) as the landscape shifts on how we work, what we work on, and where we work. The conversation will center around the many things we hear our clients and their workforces talking about - and what we are hearing is reinforced in our Pulse of the U.S. Workforce reports. We'll hear (and share) the perspectives, experiences and wisdom of talented leaders who are leading workforces into the future and offer insights about what we're seeing in our research at idealis. If you are able to attend the conference, there is still time to register. Reach out to our team at hello@idealisadvisory for a special discount code! We’re excited to announce the launch of our latest Back to Center newsletter, "From Compliance to Conviction: Reimagining How We Work," exploring how we work, and whether it is working. Using data from the Quarterly edition of our Pulse of the U.S. Workforce, we reveal the development gap that is emerging between those who work remotely, and those who work in an office. In this edition, our Chief Learning Officer, Allison Williams, reflects on how we must develop complex and nuanced leadership skills in a hybrid world of work. We dive into the evolving landscape of work and seek to push us beyond the rampant "remote vs. in-person" debate. We explore how going back to the basic concepts of flexibility, trust and understanding can create work environments that support career growth, connection, and performance. Rather than forcing people "back" to the office - we ought to make the office a place that people want to come back to. For leaders navigating this topic right now, we discuss the unique advantages of in-person work for career development and team cohesion while also recognizing the flexibility and focus that remote work offers. Whether you’re a leader seeking guidance on how to lead and manage your team, or just curious about where work is headed and how others are feeling about it, read and subscribe to our "Back to Center" newsletter to learn more. And if you're interested in our proprietary research: "How We Work (isn't working)", powered by CivicScience data and innovated by our idealis team of psychologists and business leaders, visit https://lnkd.in/e664E_73, or reach out to our team at pulse@idealisadvisory.com. #humancenteredleadership #humanityatwork #leadingincontext #leadershipdevelopment #backtocenter #everydayleader #pulseoftheusworkforce #howwework #workplaceflexibility

The debate around how we work is exactly that - a debate. And there is no right answer - though there are strong views on what is right for a company, and what is right for an employee. That's why we did research on the topic in the Quarterly edition of our "Pulse of the U.S. Workforce," released this past week. We dive deep into the critical topic of "How We Work" - whether it's remote, hybrid or in-person. The data highlights a growing gap between the ideal and real working conditions for U.S. employees—specifically in terms of where and how they work. In an evolving workforce landscape, understanding these disparities can help leaders and organizations create environments that better align with company and job needs and expectations, and employees' needs and preferences. As John Dick, CEO of CivicScience shared in our podcast episode this season, the data that Civic Science provides often reveals human truths that we as human beings don't fully understand or appreciate ourselves. This report, powered by CivicScience, uncovers key insights into workplace flexibility, location preferences, and striking a balance between remote and in-office work. The big reveal may surprise you, and help you to influence key stakeholders on how to make work, work better for all. If you're looking to understand the current pulse of the U.S. workforce on this critical topic, and shape a more productive, engaging and thriving workplace of the future, this report is for you. The majority of U.S. workers don't trust their CEOs. But here's the thing: we work with CEOs, and most of them are really kind, trustworthy, genuinely good people. We know that Boards and investors place CEOs in their roles, in part, because they are trustworthy and they are entrusting of their leadership. It's a key determinant in the hiring and promotion of candidates into the top job. So where is the disconnect? Trust is earned, not readily granted -- particularly for those who have limited interactions with the front-line workforces that they lead. Which is why building trust, with intention, is critical for C-level leaders. Without trust in leadership, CEOs are leaving productivity and performance on the table. Because without trust, humans at work are less committed, engaged, creative and willing to go above and beyond. U.S. workers are worried. There is a lot to worry about in society - with escalating tension in the Middle East and the close race in the U.S. election that will be a determinant of foreign and domestic policies for years to come. But the concern is hitting home. Literally. This month, we are seeing a 25% spike in concern about one's employment across all populations in the U.S. workforce. Half of the working population is worried about their job situation -- and there are specific groups who are more worried than others. We have a hunch on why that might be. Reach out to us for the full October monthly report or to have a conversation about what we're seeing at pulse@idealisadvisory.com. With companies setting new policies around remote work, hybrid work and requirements to work in person, it is hard to know what is right - for people, for the business, and for the moment. In our most recent podcast episode on The Unlock: Humanity at Work, we speak with Diane Neal, a public company Board Member, former CEO and successful executive who has led thousands of people through change and uncertainty. We talk about the importance of human skills - and the way that those skills are best built. While virtual interactions have their benefits, it is through live interactions with a diverse array of people across circumstances that cultivate the skills required in higher levels of consequence and leadership in companies. Listen to the full episode to hear Diane's advice on all things career and leadership, and why it's important to stay curious and keep learning: https://lnkd.in/eUD-ZF_H #humanityatwork #leadingincontext #leadershipdevelopment #theunlock #everydayleader #learningtolead

In our latest newsletter, we explore how cultural shifts can impact company performance through the story of Charlie, a CEO navigating the complexities of transforming an inherited, top-down leadership culture. When trust in leadership erodes, performance suffers—and our research shows that nearly half of U.S. workers distrust their CEOs, with 47% not admiring their leaders. This leadership gap reflects a deeper disconnect between what workers need (autonomy, trust, flexibility) and what executives demand (performance, resilience, effort). Bridging this divide requires intentional, human-centered cultural transformation from the top down. Check out our new October Pulse of the U.S. Workforce research brief, which dives deeper into the trust gap between CEOs and employees, generational shifts in expectations, and actionable insights on how leadership teams can rebuild trust and unlock performance. Reach out to our team at idealis to better understand your culture, and to unlock the fullest potential of your talent and business.
