iEARN-USA recently hosted the International Educators Conference: Profesores de Clase Globales in Antigua, Guatemala, in collaboration with educators from Guatemala and Mexico. Twenty-three teachers from Mexico, Guatemala, and the United States, part of the 2nd cohort of the Compañeros de Clase Globales program, gathered to share best practices, connect, and learn about each other’s cultures. They explored strategies for preparing students for virtual exchanges, learned how to integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals into their curriculum through project-based learning, and were introduced to digital tools to foster cross-cultural connections amongst their students. Teachers also had the chance to meet their partner teacher and start planning how they will integrate the virtual exchange project into their classrooms this fall. Throughout August, iEARN-USA's #KLYES students are arriving in the United States to begin their exchange programs. They will participate in orientation sessions in Washington, D.C. before flying out to meet and settle in with their host families. #StudyAbroad #ExchangeOurWorld

International Youth Day's theme this year is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways to Sustainable Development". In Storytelling for Social Change, our virtual Exchange program supported by Exchange Programs - U.S. Department of State and The Stevens Initiative at the Aspen Institute, students present about an environmental and sustainability issue that is important to their community. On June 17, iEARN-USA's National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Chinese and Korean Summer students gathered in San Francisco for Pre-Departure Orientation before departing for Taiwan and South Korea. The students discussed the intersections of identity and culture with their Resident Directors and #NSLIY alum Alejandra Robles, drafted community pacts, and got to know their fellow cohort members.
