This week, I had the privilege of delivering the IEEE Photonics Society Distinguished Lectures to the Australian photonics community at UNSW (NSW chapter) and RMIT University (Victoria chapter). The timing was ideal with the recent establishment of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science (COMBS), and I am excited about the potential for future collaboration with them in micro-combs and their breakthrough applications. It was wonderful to reconnect with old friends and make new ones, including Aron Michael, Gang-Ding Peng, John C., Sejeong Kim, Kenneth Crozier, Christina Lim, Arnan Mitchell, and many others. Special thanks to Yuvaraja Visagathilagar for the kind invitation and seamless organization of the events. Wishing him a speedy recovery, and I look forward to meeting in person soon!

METU Post-Doc., AGU Res. Assist., GLOBAL SOLUTIONS INITIATIVE Ambassador (Middle East), Young Global Changer 2020&21, IEEE PHOTONICS SOCIETY AVP-Young Professionals (YP), Chair-YP Advisory Committee, Advisor-AGU Chapter
Today, I participated IEEE Turkey Young Professionals Congress as an organization team member and delivered a talk on optical sensing and applications as IEEE Photonics Society Representative. With the opening speech of Prof. Ayhan Altintas, both IEEE Turkey Young Professionals and benefits of being an IEEE member were discussed. Then, technical talks were presented and a session with new graduates was organized for sharing experiences. We had really nice talks and discussions there. Finally, some gifts were presented to the attendees and we closed the day. I want to thank all the team members in particular Huseyin Yapici, the Chair of IEEE TR YP, and all attendees for making this day better. I also cannot underestimate the effort of IEEE Bilkent Öğrenci Kolu. Hope to meet at next year’s event. Who knows where 😉 #IEEEDay
