Exciting milestone for #TITAN and our pioneering carbon capture project #IFESTOS! We were honored to welcome thyssenkrupp Polysius to our Athens Headquarters to celebrate the signing of the Front-End Engineering Design (#FEED) #contract for IFESTOS. This partnership represents a significant step forward in the implementation of one of the largest carbon capture projects in Europe. Set to be deployed at our Kamari plant near Athens, Greece, the project aims to reduce CO2 emissions of the plant to #netzero and enable the annual production of more than 3 million tons of #zerocarbon #cement. Under the agreement, thyssenkrupp Polysius will design and equip the two kiln lines of the Kamari plant with oxyfuel systems for CO2 capture. First -and second- generation oxyfuel and cryogenic capture technologies will combine to capture 98.5% of the plant’s CO₂ emissions. This project, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, will not only drive economic growth and #communitydevelopment but also foster #decarbonization #synergies with regional industries, supporting #Greece’s climate goals and the #EU's ambition to become the first #climateneutral continent by 2050. Sharing knowledge about our EU-funded carbon capture project, #IFESTOS, and how it contributes to the EU’s green transition!

Through large-scale projects and strategic #netzero #technologies, #Greece is positioned at the forefront of #sustainable industrial practices and green #innovation. #IFESTOS, TITAN’s EU-funded #carboncapture project and the largest of its kind in Europe, will support the EU’s and Greece's net-zero transition in line with the #EUGreenDeal. The #EUNetZeroIndustryAct, as part of Europe’s Green Deal Industrial Plan, aims to establish a simpler and more predictable legal framework for net-zero industries in the EU, with a key focus on enhancing the #availability of CO2 #storage sites. At both the European and national levels, important first steps are being taken towards creating the CO2 capture and storage regulatory framework. This framework must include provisions for #access to and #adequacy of critical #infrastructure, such as transport and storage, aligning with international practices.
