Last week, 50/50 Women on Boards held its first Global Summit, with an exceptional gathering of executives speaking on the need to accelerate the number of women on boards. With some disappointing global statistics and the pace of change slowing to just 1% annually in the US, parity is estimated for 2044, so it's evident that more focus and results are needed.   The summit featured an extraordinary lineup of speakers and an audience full of aspiring women directors, leading to a powerful exchange of insights and action items. Several takeaways included: • There's an abundant pipeline of skilled female directors ready to serve • DEI starts with the CEO  • Female and male directors must use their voices to champion more qualified women into boardrooms • Female leadership in chair positions is critical in effecting change   Two phenomenal CEOs, Judy Marks of Otis Elevator Co. and Carey Smith of Parsons Corporation, shared how diversity makes a tangible difference for employees, customers, communities, and shareholders.
