Manufacturing Month continues to bring exciting news! ICYM – Governor JB Pritzker, IMA member Crysalis Biosciences, Inc. and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) recently announced a Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) agreement for Crysalis’ $6 million investment to develop a first-of-its-kind sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in downstate Sauget! Crysalis restarted a shuttered 57-acre ethanol plant and will produce 5,000-10,00 barrels/day to help meet the growing demand for SAF and aims to accelerate the world’s transition to zero-carbon products, The investment, which creates at least 35 new jobs in Sauget, will transform the fuel and chemical industry while reducing the carbon footprint in Illinois by manufacturing SAF, an alternative jet fuel made with a smaller carbon footprint. https://ow.ly/7AUy50TKr6g

Illinois is facing a shortage of nearly 300,000 affordable rental homes for those most in need. Earlier today, the IMA partnered with the Illinois Housing Council in Normal for a roundtable conversation on the need for workforce housing and how our organizations are collaborating to support the Build Illinois Homes State Tax Credit, a proven legislative solution to meet the growing demand for affordable housing. IMA's Donovan Griffith joined a panel including Illinois State Senator Dave Koehler, Dr. Keith Cornille (Heartland Community College), Allison Milld Clements (Illinois Housing Council), Karlee Macer (Laborer's Home Development Corporation), Jeff Jurgens (City of Bloomington, IL) and Pamela Reece (Town of Normal, IL) for a great conversation followed by a tour of the Heartland Communication College Advanced Manufacturing Center. The Center includes the State Farm EV Lab, Solar Lab, and Robotics wing.
