    Recombinant Trypsin: For Precision Cleavage in Bioprocessing Trypsin is a serine protease that specifically cleaves peptide bonds at the C-terminus of lysine and arginine residues, essential in various biological applications. Traditionally, trypsin has been sourced from the pancreas of animals which carries significant risks, including the potential introduction of exogenous viruses. Historical cases, such as the detection of SV40 virus in polio vaccines and avian leukosis virus in yellow fever vaccines, highlight the critical need for safer alternatives. Molecular Structure and Advantages of Recombinant Trypsin: Recombinant trypsin, produced using advanced recombinant technology, offers a safer and more reliable alternative. It consists of a single polypeptide chain with two distinct domains: the catalytic domain responsible for substrate binding and cleavage and the β-barrel domain, which provides structural stability. Post-purification, recombinant trypsin typically contains at least 70% β-trypsin and no more than 20% α-trypsin. Key Features: Gentle Action: Unlike traditional trypsin, which may contain multiple proteases, recombinant trypsin acts as a single enzyme. This reduces the potential for cell damage, maintaining cell health and integrity during bioprocessing. Animal-Origin Free: Recombinant trypsin eliminates the risk of exogenous viral contamination.     Recombinant Enzyme for Cleavage in Bioprocess Applications: Carboxypeptidase B Carboxypeptidase B (CPB) is a highly specific serine protease crucial for protein processing and maturation. Produced recombinantly, this enzyme is derived from the pancreas and is known for its ability to remove C-terminal basic amino acids from peptide chains. Its precision makes it a valuable enzyme in various biotechnological applications. Cleavage Specificity: Activated by trypsin, CPB exhibits high specificity for lysine and arginine residues, with a preference for arginine. The molecular weight of Carboxypeptidase B is approximately 34.5 kDa. The enzyme functions optimally at a pH of 8.0 and has an isoelectric point (pI) of 6.0. It cleaves at the C-terminal end of peptides, targeting basic amino acids, represented by the sequence: X-X-X-X-Arg/Lys Applications: Efficient Removal of C-Terminal Lysine: Ideal for processing pro-insulin to produce insulin.
