𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐘 𝐒. 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐒𝐄𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 The following statement is from the Trooper Corey S. Thompsen family. The Family of Trooper Corey S. Thompsen mourns the loss of their husband, son, brother and friend. We could never begin to thank law enforcement or the thousands from our community who have reached out to us to express their love and support. To the public, he became a hero on October 18th, when he was killed in the line of duty. To his family, he has always been a hero. Our world has been shattered, and we will never be the same. But we take comfort in knowing that he lived life to the fullest, he loved his family and friends deeply, and he died doing what he loved. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” -Matthew 5:9 Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, from 1 to 5 pm, at St. Joseph-Ogden High School with a first responder walk through at 5 pm. The funeral will be held Sunday, October 27 at 1 pm at Faith United Methodist Church,1719 S. Prospect in Champaign. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery, St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trooper Corey S. Thompsen Scholarship fund at any University of Illinois Credit Union branch. This will provide a scholarship to St. Joseph-Ogden High School students entering the field of Criminal Justice. Additional information will be released in the coming days. We ask the community to show their support by lining the procession route. Inquiries about the incident can be directed to the Illinois State Police at ISP.PIO.personnel@illinois.gov.
