These grants have been distributed to our network and are already helping to stabilize each agency as necessary. Read more about our work to help our community at https://ow.ly/x4aZ50TTwtY

Today, we’re celebrating the contributions the Native people have made to our history and community as the original inhabitants of America. Western North Carolina is home to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians who live in the Qualla Boundary, a 56,000-acre land trust spanning five WNC counties. With a deep history of resilience, the Eastern Band is part of the larger Cherokee Nation, once forcibly removed from their ancestral lands during the Trail of Tears. Today, the descendants of both survivors of the Trail of Tears and those who resisted removal make up the vibrant Eastern Band community that continues to enrich our region. Did you know in North Carolina, 35% of women and 30% of men have experienced physical violence or abuse by an intimate partner? The impact of domestic violence extends far beyond physical harm. It's part of the reason why interpersonal violence (IPV) services were included in HOP. REACH of Macon County has been at the forefront of providing critical IPV services. As one of the first IPV organizations to join HOP, REACH is committed to helping survivors rebuild their lives. Read more about their work at https://lnkd.in/eYWBXKM5

Last week, several of our HSOs participated in Mental Health First Aid training. This valuable training equipped them with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to potential mental health and substance use challenges in adults and guide individuals toward appropriate support resources when needed. Thank you, Vaya Health, for hosting and leading this powerful training!
