Thank you Social Venture Partners Dallas for uplifting our work to close the wealth gap in North Texas and beyond!

#ImpactInvesting Day at #bigBANG2024 brought together inspiring leaders on local social impact. Benjamin J. Vann of Impact Ventures and Amelia Nickerson from First Step Staffing shared how market-driven solutions can empower communities and drive economic resilience. Benjamin reflected on SVP’s role, saying, “SVP continues to champion innovative and market-based solutions to address our region’s challenges. I’m honored to stand on the work that SVP does to help uplift our residents.” ✨ Salah Boukadoum, founder of Impact City Initiative, offered three principles of impact investing. First, impact must be directly linked to the capital invested, not the enterprise's general community impact. Second, while impact investing can yield financial returns, the primary goal is to identify and scale sustainable solutions. Third, early investments should be cautious to avoid compromising future impact, using grants for initial risk and development. Carlos Martinez, Director of the SMU Impact Lab, discussed the lab's mission to foster entrepreneurial action and impact investing among students. The lab, supported by the Roger Philip Foundation, educates students on impact businesses and sustainable development goals. Together, these voices underscored the potential for change through strategic investment and partnership. #DoGoodBetter

🗣️IV Fam: Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready! 90% of minority business owners are denied the funding they need.. and not being fully “document ready” can play a role in that. (Crunchbase.com) Without the right financials, projections, and business plans, founders often hit a wall when they approach banks or investors. Being prepared isn’t just about having a good idea... it’s about having the paperwork to back it up. That’s why our Capital Readiness Program zeroes in on helping founders get their documents and financials in order! Thank you, Erika Hersh with LiftFund, for reminding us to stay document ready at the Inclusive Capital Summit!🔥🔥

For communities of color, broken trust is everywhere! Banks, financial systems, etc. That history shapes how we show up in business, often without us even realizing it. The key to changing the game is rebuilding that trust. Let’s talk about what it’ll take to make that happen. What are your thoughts? 🤔👇🏾

🗣️ LET’S TALK ABOUT IT!! Growth Vs Scale…When it comes to scaling, think about this: Would you rather sell one product at a time or move a thousand all at once? 🤔 One MAJOR indicator of growth vs scale — As your sales go up, your costs should start going down. That’s where the magic happens in scaling. Scaling isn’t just a win for your business… it’s a win for our whole community. We’re on the lookout for PARTNERS ready to help drive this kind of growth in our city. Let’s make it happen together! 👇🏾 https://lnkd.in/g9J_CDhz

🗣️Like he said, it’s all about CAPITAL! 💰 Yet, for underserved founders, the numbers tell a challenging story. In 2023, startups founded solely by women raised just 2% of all venture capital funding, while Black and Latinx founders combined received only 2.3% of total VC dollars. Access to capital remains a major barrier for many entrepreneurs, underscoring the need for more inclusive funding opportunities in the startup ecosystem. Ask us how you can get involved in changing this narrative☝🏾 Thank you, Roland Parrish, for this gem!💎

🗣️ LETS TALK ABOUT IT!! In Dallas County, Black & Latino communities represent ~63% of the population Dallas-Fort Worth, but only represent 3% and 7% of business ownership respectively. 97% of those businesses are sole proprietors, that have 1 or fewer employees. Investing in Small Business IS a workforce solution. We’re seeking partners who are deeply passionate about solving the economic disparities within our city... We need your help. 👇🏾 https://lnkd.in/g9J_CDhz
