Another great ILC is in the books! Our yearly mountain retreat looked a little different this year in the aftermath of Helene. We replaced many of our typical activities (like fly fishing and zip-lining) with volunteering to help out on hurricane relief efforts through United Way. It was heartwarming to come together to be a part of the distribution of food and clothes to those in need. And we still made time for some fun team-building activities like crafts, trivia, and field day! One thing is for sure: no matter what we're doing, it's always a blast when the IMPLAN team comes together in person. Many thanks to Rebecca Wisbey, SHRM-CP for all the hard work you did to make this wonderful retreat possible!

🌊 Unequal Economic Consequences of Coastal Hazards 🌊 A recent study in Environmental Research Letters uncovers the unequal economic impacts of hurricanes in North Carolina. Coastal hazards like hurricanes hit lower-income communities harder, widening economic disparities. Key insights from the study: - Lower-income communities face greater long-term economic losses from hurricanes. - Wealthier areas recover faster due to better access to resources and insurance. - Economic disparities worsen as the frequency of severe storms increases. By using advanced economic modeling tools like IMPLAN, we can better understand these impacts and develop policies that support equitable recovery for all communities.
