One of our Principals, Amanda Wick, spoke with Bloomberg Television yesterday about Trump's impending crypto project, World Liberty Financial. Whether you're the former President or a new founder, how you structure a crypto project can send many signals. Make sure they're the right ones and they don't signal "scam," "rug pull," or "pump and dump." Build with integrity and best intent. Ask the right questions and have highly qualified advisors to help you answer them.

Check out Amanda Wick's recent lightning round interview with Matthew Homer from the Department of XYZ. Amanda had some sage advice for founders who are hiring their in-house lawyers or advisers - TLDR: do not hire "Yes Men." "I think what founders should be looking for in their in-house lawyers or advisors is someone who can get that bus to the bottom with everyone on board alive, while telling you on the way down the real cost of what you’re breaking. Losing a rear-view mirror or bumper is fine; losing a transmission, not so much. The goal is to put up the smallest guardrails so that you don’t drive over the cliff, you can go as fast as safely possible, and you get to the bottom"

I’m a big believer that you shouldn’t complain about something unless you're going to do something to fix it. So I am incredibly excited about Incite Consulting LLC’s partnership with Blockchain APAC to host our inaugural RegTech Forum in London from October 15 - 17. This event is tailored to break us out of our "Groundhog Day" panels and keynotes to have meaningful discussions and roundtables that will actually help regulators and industry move the needle. What do regulators need to know about the tech to help them achieve their mission? What tools exist that can solve those problems? What are the gaps between Reg needs and the Tech market? What needs to be built to fill those gaps? We're taking the best and most brilliant minds in digital assets who know the tech and putting them in rooms with regulators who actually do the work and know the regulatory paint points. This isn't a "sit and listen" event with tickets for sale. It's an invite-only, highly curated forum for the discussions we need to move things forward. I've been dreaming about doing this for a while, and thanks to Steve Vallas and Richelle Cox, as well as some supporters who have been with us since day one, we're on track to bringing everyone together to have some incredible conversations. If you're in the RegTech or SupTech space - either as a regulator, industry, NGO, etc. - and you want to have the geek-out sessions that will make actual progress, this is the event for you. If you haven't already received an invite, we need to know you're out there and interested, so please register your interest and apply to attend at www.regtechforum.org.

Our very own Amanda Wick was invited to speak with Bloomberg Television about the upcoming election and its potential implications for the crypto ecosystem. Amanda shared her perspective on the lasting effects the last four years of enforcement has had on the crypto community and where the Harris and Trump administration have an opportunity to win over the industry by turning over a new, friendlier, crypto leaf. Amanda's work at Incite advising crypto companies and founders enables her to read the pulse of the crypto industry like few others can.

Thank you to David Voreacos and Muyao S. at Bloomberg for their excellent reporting on former President Trump's remarks at the Bitcoin Nashville conference. Amanda Wick, one of our Principals, was quoted in the piece, along with Elizabeth Boison and Laurel Loomis Rimon, additional former DOJ prosecutors who are subject matter experts in asset forfeiture, the "Bitcoin stockpile," and the feasibility and accuracy of Trump's stated plans. https://lnkd.in/eSfWE49g

When Steve Vallas, Richelle Cox, and I decided that Incite Consulting LLC and Blockchain APAC would collaborate for Japan Fintech Week, I remember we tossed around the words “envoy,” “delegation,” and “cohort.” None of them even came close to describing the magical thing it became. We started with a curated WhatsApp group of the “crypto/blockchain dream wedding list,” as Ari would say. Then Richelle made a working doc for folks to track what was happening and when- more than four conferences in one week, and countless simultaneous events all over Tokyo. After numerous planned (and unplanned) meetups, dinners, coffees, and - thank god- an epic night of karaoke, real and lasting bonds were formed between people who had never heard of each other just a week before. Connecting the amazing people in my life who don’t yet know each other, but need to, is one of my greatest joys. It’s one of the many things Steve and I have in common. The other is a desire to enhance conferences beyond the same panels saying the same things, where you feel a bit like you’re in a fintech/crypto/web3 version of “Groundhog’s Day.” Lucky for us, Japan Fintech Week featured conferences that put a TON of time into providing quality content, so we were starting at an advantage. But too often, the primary (and sometimes only) value of other industry events is in the relationships you build and the meetings you set - or the opportunities to build new relationships with someone you need to meet but didn’t know existed. Steve and I constantly marvel that for as global and borderless as crypto, blockchain, and web3 are, the conferences and networking can be incredibly siloed. We’re going to change that. We’re working on what the next one will look like. This was a beta test. Thank you to everyone who gave feedback, suggestions for next time, and what they liked or didn’t. Japan is a magical country: mind-blowing sushi, stunning shrines, charming cherry blossoms, teacup-poodle therapy cafe (yes, that was real!), and a mindset for advancing the public good that you can palpably feel every time they push the elevator button door to close behind them as they get off- so you can get to where you need to be faster. With brilliant leaders like Ryosuke Ushida and Chihiro Ban, I cannot wait to see the progress Japan will make in fintech, especially with its new policies to help women advance in the industry. The mind boggles at how amazing #JFW2025 will be. For all the seriousness above, the video below may seem like the 20th reunion of a high school robotics/investors’ club that has been counting the days until they were reunited. That may be the closest I can get to describing the magic of the week. To everyone in our envoy/cohort/delegation/fintech fam, thank you for proving the concept beyond what we could have hoped. We cannot wait to do it again. 🙏🏻💜

Ever wondered what a "trade envoy" is actually supposed to do? Historically, a trade mission was a learning event organized to take businesses, non-profits, and government representatives as a group to another country with the goal of investigating, establishing or expanding international business, trade and export opportunities and activities in that country. But sometimes, particular countries and particular industries need a specialized touch. What if you could make a tailor-made envoy, with the key business leaders and government representatives, traveling together to a foreign country, to ensure that the opportunities were maximized? So, what would a crypto trade envoy to Japan look like? We can't tell you how excited we are to find out. 😎 Join us.

Not all hacks are created equal. The cryptocurrency world is witnessing a disturbing rise in sophisticated attacks, with mounting evidence pointing to increased involvement of nation-state actors. Unlike rogue individual hackers or cyber crime groups, nation-state attacks often carry far-reaching geopolitical implications including the use of the hack proceeds for terrorism financing. Recent examples like the North Korean Lazarus Group's targeting of the Ronin Network or the suspected Russian involvement in the Poly Network hack highlight the severity of this threat. These attacks are often highly orchestrated with substantial resources behind them making it even more difficult to identify the source of the breach, the actors involved and the impact to your organization. Founders and their boards often make the mistake of waiting until after the breach to begin identifying the right resources to help them remediate the harm. And if they don't know who to call, or they call the wrong people, critical time may be lost. At Incite, we've worked with clients to avoid making the same mistake and help them prepare for the worst. In short, it starts with what we call the three "R's" of an investigation. ✅ Recon and Research: Information is power in a crisis and knowing the best resources to gather in-depth analysis of nation-state tactics and potential vulnerabilities often makes the difference between success and failure for your organization. ✅ Remediation: Proactive and reactive cybersecurity assessments, incident response planning, investigations and tailored security recommendations to ensure you've scoped the threat, and closed the door on further breaches. ✅ Recovery: In parallel with the above, orchestrating speedy recovery efforts is critical in any hack. In the case of a nation-state actor, having deep expertise on the right law enforcement agencies to report to and coordinating the resources from internal research and remediation efforts will make or break recovery efforts for an organization.
