Physical recovery from injury is an enormous exercise in mental strength. Your mindset makes up 50% (or more) in your treatment plan. When I was recovering from my bike accident, it felt like I was facing truly insurmountable challenges. I had 7 herniated discs. I couldn’t stand. I couldn’t walk unassisted. I was in debilitating pain. The slow pace of recovery forced me to embrace a ‘1% growth’ mindset. Each day, I said, "Today will be better than yesterday." I'd focus on getting a small win on the board that day. Within months, my symptoms began to improve, defying medical expectations. Your ability to recover successfully is intrinsically linked to your belief in yourself. It's about training your mind to focus beyond the discomfort.
