Urgent Weather Alert for Gulf of Mexico Region The Gulf of Mexico is currently under close observation for a potential tropical disturbance. The National Weather Service has issued a report indicating a 90% chance of system formation, with north Florida expected to receive 7-10 inches of rain beginning as early as Wednesday, September 25. Anticipated impacts include downed trees, power outages, and localized flooding, making it crucial for residents to take proactive measures in preparation for the upcoming storm. To assist with preparations, the City of Tallahassee is opening several self-service sandbag locations for residents. Each resident is encouraged to bring a shovel to fill up to 25 sandbags to protect their homes and property. These sites will remain open until the threat has passed.
