On October 22, 2024, BBBS Independence launched the POWER Up initiative to empower middle school students in high gun violence areas. This program, now in three Philadelphia schools, fosters a strong support network within schools and communities. Watlington Sr., Ed.D., Superintendent of the The School District of Philadelphia; the staff members leading the new POWER Up effort; and the Bigs, Littles, and family members who can speak to the positive impact of mentorship in their lives.
