The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is charged with continually improving the Hoosier workforce by assisting companies to create new jobs and improve employee skills. The agency offers a variety of training and educational grants, partners with Indiana's 35 WorkOne Centers and 50 WorkOne Express Centers, administers the unemployment insurance system, provides labor market information, assists employers with preparing workers for layoffs and closures and operates a statewide job placement service. Our Central Office hosted a Day of Service at Indianapolis World Sports Park! Agency volunteers in partnership with the Indy Parks AmeriCorps program had a day of planting, mulching, honeysuckle removal, and other cleanup projects. Indy Parks and Recreation provides parks, greenspaces, trails, and recreation opportunities for Marion County residents and visitors. The agency offers 216 parks, 11,254 acres of greenspace, 130 playgrounds, 155 sports fields, 153 miles of trails, 23 recreation and nature centers, 20 aquatic centers, 22 spray grounds, 13 golf courses, and four dog parks. Indy Parks also provides a range of sports, art, education, and recreation programs and more than 2400 programs throughout the year. Help DWD raise awareness and funding for Medical Mutts. The Indianapolis group trains rescue dogs as diabetic and seizure alert dogs, psychiatric and other disabilities services dogs. Their goal is to give abandoned dogs a fresh start and create a better life for people in tough situations. You can give back by donating or purchasing swag. Use the links or QR codes below. Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) Indiana, administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, reached a 97% graduation rate for the 2023-24 school year, higher than the state average. While in pursuit of doubling its program count by 2025 JAG Indiana also received national recognition as a JAG “6 of 6” award recipient at the Annual JAG National Training Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada.
