About us
The Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA) is a statewide organization that strives to improve the viability of Indiana soybean farmers and industry partners. ISA represents more than 20,000 soybean farmers in Indiana through two primary roles; the state soybean checkoff and legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts: Through the soybean checkoff, ISA funds market development, economic and environmental on-farm programs, consumer outreach, new soybean uses and value creation projects. ISA membership and Policy Committee manages membership and advocacy efforts that support Indiana soybean grower interests in local areas, Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. No soybean checkoff funds can be used to fund the membership and policy area efforts.

Soybean development in 2024 has been about 10 days ahead of the five-year average from flowering to pod development to leaf drop (USDA-NASS, 2024). Fast stand establishment and high accumulation of heat units (GDDs) during May and June certainly set the pace. Now, in many areas, harvest is fully in gear based on the combinations of early maturities, early plantings, and late season heat and dryness. The directors, commissioners, and secretaries of departments of agriculture met in Indianapolis last week to collaborate on issues impacting the industry. During the annual NASDA - National Association of State Departments of Agriculture meeting, Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council, alongside American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., sponsored a tour at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. CEO Courtney Kingery discussed the benefits of high oleic soybean oil and ongoing partnerships with Andretti Global and IMS to promote biofuels. The 200 tour participants were served mozzarella sticks fried in heart healthy high oleic cooking oil. ISA’s Glass Barn also hosted a session for Next Generation Students participating in NASDA’s annual meeting. Hannah Vorsilak, marketing operations and leadership director, discussed ISA and ICMC’s role in the story of agriculture. Through policy, partnerships, and public engagement, NASDA continues to fulfill its mission of enhancing American food and agricultural communities. Indiana is proudly represented on the NASDA Executive Committee by Don Lamb, Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA); and before him, Bruce Kettler, now CEO of the Agribusiness Council of Indiana. With a population of more than 100 million people and a rapidly growing middle class that is demanding higher levels of animal protein, Vietnam is providing market opportunities for Indiana corn and soybean farmers. U.S. exports of agricultural and related products to Vietnam totaled nearly $3.5 billion in 2023. “We’re talking about a country that has a population around one-third the size of the U.S. population and its average age is in the low 30s,” said Chris Eck, ISA Board Member and a farmer from Boggstown, Ind. “Vietnam’s growing middle class means more protein consumption and more chances for growth of U.S. ag exports.” Read more about checkoff projects taking place in Vietnam to move more Indiana corn and soybeans: https://lnkd.in/gftphh7q Indiana Corn Marketing Council U.S. Meat Export Federation National Pork Board USA Poultry & Egg Export Council Indiana Pork Producers Association #soycheckoff

USMEF Chair Randy Spronk and the Indiana Soybean Alliance met with potential buyers in Indonesia to explore market opportunities for U.S. soybeans and red meat. The event, organized by USMEF ASEAN, included a meet-and-greet with Indonesian meat importers and a visit to Food and Hotel Indonesia, a major food trade show. Spronk highlighted the potential U.S. pork market in Indonesia, noting a significant increase in market share from 11.5% in 2023 to 38.5% in 2024. U.S. pork exports to Indonesia rose by 21% in volume and 14% in value in the first half of 2024. USMEF has been promoting U.S. pork in upscale retail outlets to enhance awareness and establish its reputation for quality. Spronk also sees opportunities for U.S. beef in premium foodservice and retail sectors, as well as traditional foodservice and wet markets. The primary challenge for U.S. beef in Indonesia is navigating the extensive plant approval process. #USMEF #PorkCheckoff #BeefCheckoff
