There are several ways to shoot real estate. For the past nine years, I've been using a method called HDR (high dynamic range), where I shoot three or five images in a six-stop exposure range and then blend them together. That system works fairly well. Where it fails is color casting. This happens when different light sources cast different color temperatures (yellow light vs. blue light). To fix this, I've been working on a process called "Flambient." It's similar to HDR, where I'll shoot four different images. One ambient, one flashed, and one espoused for the window. I will then merge those together. This process excels over HDR because it eliminates any color casting as the strobe overpowers any other light source. Below is an example of what the edited image looks like. The key light is an XPLOR 600, and the fill flash camera on the right is a Canon Speedlight 580xll. Let me know your thoughts.
