UNOS applauds the introduction of the Organ Donation Referral Improvement Act. Legislation that aims to optimize the deceased organ donor referral process by identifying and recommending best practices for software tools used by hospitals and organ procurement organizations, ultimately providing more patients with life-saving transplants. A huge thank you to U.S. Reps Wittman, McClellan, Miller-Meeks, and Costa for their support!

I had the honor of speaking yesterday at the UNOS REGION 5 Conference. I was the last speaker. I was nervous. It was so important to me to drive the connection between what they do, and how it impacts families. A standing ovation is the greatest reward I could have received. Still not over it. Such an amazing group of humans.

Breaking barriers in organ transplants! The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act, which advances our shared goal of ensuring equity for patients with disabilities. Thank you to U.S. Reps. Kat Cammack, Debbie Dingell, Darrell Issa, Pete Sessions, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz for your efforts. 🔗https://lnkd.in/ebK7qnFa

Did you know that September is National DMV Month? We want to take a moment to celebrate the vital role that the Department of Motor Vehicles has in saving lives. DMV staff are the people on the front lines of service who have helped people across the country to register their decision to be a deceased organ, eye and tissue donor. There are currently more than 170 million donor registrations in the U.S. and 90%+ of donor registrations come through the DMV! Thank you, DMV staff, for your work!

Today was the Region 5 Collaborative in San Diego! UNOS is proud to convene this meeting to share expertise, research, and experiences. We're very grateful to our sponsors for their support, especially Lifesharing | A Donate Life Organization and Paragonix Technologies, Inc. who make events like this possible.
