We weren't surprised when 106 Jefferson - a #Curio hotel by Hilton - won the Boutique Design | BDNY Gold Key Award when it opened in 2022. And we're equally thrilled to see that the hotel keeps winning awards, like the recent Muse Hotel Awards for the Lifestyle Boutique Hotel category. It's an opportunity to revisit the art collection that the curators at Indiewalls commissioned for the property, in collaboration with Looney & Associates (James Looney, Brooke Wissenbach, RID, Lauren McGowan). The contemporary art collection pays homage to the storied past of Huntsville, Alabama. Once known as a cotton town, Huntsville was chosen by the government as the site for the U.S. missile research program, propelling the sleepy town into the international space race. #hospitalitydesign #artconsulting #designwithart

Each floor of the Charter Communications HQ represents a state the company serves, and features a bespoke art collection from local artists of that state. Here's a spotlight on 4 floors/states, for another installment of our Charter Communications' Stamford HQ case study, an Award Finalist at this year's Interior Design Magazine #NYCxDesign. Minnesota: Rather than presenting a traditional, flat landscape, Neal Peterson ingeniously spins and layers the cityscape view in this metallic print, crafting a mandala-like effect that captures the essence of his state. North Carolina: The curators envisioned finding an existing oil painting that would add a classical touch to the space. They contacted North Carolina artist Kristen Gibson, who serendipitously had an unstretched plein-air painting inspired by the Duke Gardens, a well-known attraction near Raleigh, known for its display of local plants and wildlife, which perfectly reflected the natural beauty of the state. Texas: These custom wrapped fiber works by Ellen Bruxvoort draw inspiration from the artist's home. Contours of Texas' landscapes, sunsets, bluebonnets, cacti and the Colorado River bends inform the design of this work. The pieces are wrapped with naturally dyed American wool, hemp, cotton and silk and accented with natural color rope - a nod to the 5 million acres of farmland across Texas. Florida: This installation by Ari Robinson was inspired by the Sunshine State. The color and pattern inspiration were pulled from the state’s blue ocean waters, green grasses, and subtle warm touches from the golden sun. Each piece is made out of collaged paintings on paper that are coated with resin on wood. 🎉 National Patch Day Partnership Announcement🎉 We are thrilled to announce our special partnership with the Oliver Patch Project to celebrate National Patch Day. The Oliver Patch Project empowers children battling cancer and other health and mental illnesses, through the power of patches! We're kicking off the partnership with the first custom-designed patch, designed by artist and Indiewalls Project Manager Cheyanne Treadway-Thomas. The patches are available to send to all affected children via the Oliver Patch Project website. This year-round initiative invites everyone to send supportive patches to children, adolescents, or young adults navigating physical or mental health challenges. What type of fine art is appropriate for the executive suites at a publicly traded, S&P 100 company? A continuation of our Charter Communications' Stamford HQ case study, an Award Finalist at this year's Interior Design Magazine #NYCxDesign: The new headquarters sits atop the Long Island Sound, so a special collection, inspired by the Sound, was curated for the executive floors. Among the collection are rope commissions by artist duo BroCoLoco, which evoke a nautical connection that harmonizes beautifully with the panoramic views of the Long Island Sound. At the same time, the pieces provide sound dampening in the space and an added touch of softness to the long hallway with its many doors. Another series in the executive collection is by local artist Catherine Cristiano, who portrays familiar local homes under varying lighting conditions throughout the day. By combining several of her postcard-sized artworks into a single, large display and framing them individually with small mats, the presentation gained a dynamic quality. This method elevated the collective impact of the landscapes, making them significantly more engaging than they would have been as standalone pieces. Beautiful spaces filled with art intended to ignite creativity 💡
Following the news that Charter Communications' HQ is an Interior Design Magazine #NYCxDesign Finalist, we have something special for our community over the next few weeks: We will take you inside the evolution of the design and development of the art collection at Charter Communications’ Stamford CT headquarters, completed in collaboration with HLW and JLL Project Management. You’ll hear insights from the designers and curators, inspirational artist stories, how the executive floor collection was uniquely concepted, and much more. To kick things off, here was the formal scope: As part of a new two-tower HQ, Charter required a specialized art firm to oversee the curation, sourcing, production, and installation of a vast new collection of fine art. They tapped Indiewalls to partner with HLW - the project’s architecture and design firm - to fill the 830,000 square feet with thoughtful and impactful contemporary art. The project was a resounding success on all fronts, with Charter staff returning to a new home that is completed transformed by art and design. Be sure to follow Indiewalls and HLW for all the upcoming content. Curated art programs have a unique ability to convey a company’s branding and ethos. Our curators will pick up on the nuances of a client’s brand, and select artworks that can advance the brand story. That's what we brought to Charter Communications' Stamford HQ, an Award Finalist at this year's Interior Design Magazine #NYCxDesign. As a telecommunications leader, Charter understands the importance of connectivity and local representation. To highlight these themes, the Indiewalls curators ventured into the heart of each state that Charter serves, engaging with local artists to capture the spirit of their respective states. Each floor of the HQ building features a bespoke art collection from local artists of that state, whose authenticity and craft transformed the headquarters into a vibrant gallery of stories and perspectives. The two executives floors, perched atop the building, were inspired by the body of water they overlook - the Long Island Sound.
