“Our Community, Our Commitment…” DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that the Indio Police Department continues to work with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), specifically with the BJA VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Initiative in piloting the BJA Funded workshop - Supporting the Wellness of Law Enforcement Agency Staff After a Critical Incident. What is the Workshop All About? The workshop is designed for a smaller group of about 12 supervisor-level participants in identifying support strategies they can implement to support the health and wellness of their staff after a critical incident. Who Are the Trainers? Let us introduce you to them: Dr. Joel Silverman is the lead curriculum designer and facilitator, and Dr. Brittany C. Cunningham is the Project Director and Co-curriculum designer. Why? The Indio Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our community by continuing to seek out and implement the six main pillars of the Task Force on 21st Century Policing that have, and will continue, to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Indio. The six pillars are: Building Trust and Legitimacy, Policy and Oversight, Technology and Social Media, Community Policing and Crime Reduction, Officer Training and Education, and Officer Safety and Wellness. The Indio Police Department is committed to its vision of being the premier community-oriented municipal law enforcement organization in the nation and is fulfilling the Indio Police Department Mission daily.
