Thank you Lisa Du and Bloomberg News for the excellent reporting and to Howard Smith for sharing his views as a long term investor in Japan. “It’s an important litmus test for Japan,” said Howard Smith, a portfolio manager at Indus Capital Partners who holds a position in Seven & i. “It will be looked at globally by investors and strategic buyers as to the appeal and ease of doing mergers and acquisitions in Japan.”

As part of our IndusNOW series, we’re excited to share a short video presented by Paul Chanin, our Partner and research analyst specializing in technology. At Indus Capital Partners, we have been closely monitoring the rise of AI and the global significance of semiconductors for over five years. In this three-minute video, we delve into the semiconductor supply chain, the growing geopolitical importance of chips, and the critical role Asian companies play in this process. While the topic is complex, we hope this video helps clarify the nuances of the semiconductor value chain and highlights the importance of Asian companies in this global industry. #asia #induscapital #geopolitics #semiconductors #AI #ChipWars #investing #japan #taiwan #china #korea

Last week, Indus Capital Partners had the opportunity to volunteer at the New York Common Pantry (NYCP). Our team spent the afternoon at the Harlem Choice Pantry location and was tasked with taking orders, bagging and distributing fresh produce and various shelf-stable items to NYCP guests. This allowed us to support NYCP’s mission to reduce hunger and foster self-sufficiency and long-term independence for low-income New Yorkers. We really enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity! #induscapital #NYCP #foodpantry #foodinsecurity #fighthunger #fightpoverty

We continue to believe in the growth and corporate governance story in Japan, but little is discussed about what is happening in both China and Korea. Our Partner & Portfolio Manager for Indus Select, John Pinkel, CFA, recently returned from meetings with key professionals in both locations after spending many years living in and studying these markets. Thank you to Samuel Shen, Summer Zhen and Reuters News Agency for their timely reporting. This mimics Japan's corporate reform and South Korea's "Value Up" program, said John Pinkel, CFA, partner of New-York-based hedge fund Indus Capital Partners, which recently added China exposure. "The common denominator of these positions: they all have large cash positions, are buying back shares or increasing dividends, and we like their business models."

Good reporting from Summer Zhen of Reuters News Agency. Indus Capital, a New York-based hedge fund, remains underweight on China, although it has recently added some stocks. "The market still offers us more short opportunities than longs, particularly as we encounter more volatility due to ongoing economic challenges," said Byron Gill, CFA, managing partner at Indus Capital Partners, citing the country's increasing deflation pressures. #induscapital #asia #china #reuters
