We're on a mission to ensure all children in the Indianapolis area have access to books at home.

About us

With a mission to ensure all children have access to books in their home, Indy Book Project collects gently used or new books from the community, sorts them, and then distributes them to community centers, schools, and other locations that serve youth. To date, we've gifted over 170,000 books to local children, including: - Families who visit Eskenazi Pecar and the Crooked Creek Food Pantry - Students at Indianapolis Public Schools - Patients at local pediatricians' offices - Neighbors near a Little Free Library - Residents who receive holiday giveaways at neighborhood centers

Always happy to support these efforts! This is what it's all about. 💚

📚✨ Exciting News! ✨📚 Thanks to the generous support of the Indy Book Project and Macy from The MJ Companies, we now have a special collection of books for our families and children. Each child can choose a book to keep when they arrive at the shelter and on their birthdays. 🥹 A HUGE thank you to Indy Book Project and Macy for their incredible kindness. We can't wait to see the smiles on the children's faces as they pick out their very own books!💛

Last week, Indy Book Project hit an incredibly exciting milestone: We gave away our 200,000th book!! 💙 💚 Remarkably, in the past 18 months, we've given away 100,000 books. This would not have been possible without the generous support of our volunteers and donors. Thank you for getting us to this point! While the number of books given away is exciting, our focus is on the children behind the books who otherwise might not have much exposure to books outside of school. To help us celebrate this milestone, we ask that you please SHARE, SHARE, SHARE this post. At the end of March, we'll randomly select one lucky person who has shared this post to receive a prize. 🏆 #communityimpact #nonprofit

We celebrated National Read Across America Day (March 2) by joining the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites to celebrate Family Literacy Day. The event primarily focused on young children and their families, but it was open to everyone visiting the museum that day. They had several literacy-related activities throughout the museum, and we were happy to be on hand to give away children’s and young adult books. Stay tuned for future events that we will be attending at the Indiana State Museum! #literacy #nonprofitevents
