I recently got back from representing EmpowerMe Living at the First Place Global Leadership Institute's Symposium. It was an incredible event and while I am still processing everything I took in, I did manage to come up with my top ten take-aways. Here they are in written and video format! 1. Building more housing solutions for people with I/DD is possible and happening across the country. 2. Unencumbered capital stack - the least restrictions gives you the most flexibility. 3. We are making incredible technological advancements from SANDI, a driving simulator, to RIA, a humanoid robot that I believe can impact better training for DSPs. 4. Data and research is critical to advancing change. 5. The power of trades and vo-tech for people with Austism and I/DD. Check out TACT - Teaching the Autism Community Trades. 6. So much of our assessments are deficits-based. How do we flip the script and make them more strengths-based? 7.
