The INF4INITY Project - INtegrated designs for Future Floating oFFshore wINd farm TechnologY

About us

Developing critical technologies for the offshore wind farm of the future, providing solutions for the current techno-socio-enviro-economic challenges of the industry. The INF4INiTY project aims to provide nature inclusive design (NID) innovations for sub-sea components of floating offshore wind (FOW) installations in a joint effort of industry and academia, thereby strengthening the European global leadership in the FOW industry. The INF4INiTY project will develop critical technologies for the offshore wind farm of the future which enable balancing human needs (clean energy) with nature’s and society’s demands (decreased negative environmental and social impact).

💡 There are many exciting projects that contribute to #offshorewind like FLORES does. Our colleagues from Aquatera Atlántico-atlántico, member organisation of our ORESkills Pact for Skills, have launched an innovative project on floating offshore wind called INF4INITY. They combine the efforts of an EU consortium to develop integrated and nature-inclusive designs for future floating offshore wind farm technology, by implementing nature-based designs for subsea components of floating offshore wind installations. ⬇️ #OREskills #offshore #renewable #energy

🌍 INF4INiTY partner BM SUMER | Consultancy & Research at #ICCE2024 in Rome! 🌊 We are pleased to share that BM SUMER | Consultancy & Research actively participated in the International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE) in Rome, 7-14 September 2024. During the event, B. Mutlu Sumer chaired a session on #scour (Geotechnics and Scour), a major theme of the INF4INiTY project. Özgür Kirca presented our latest research findings on #Scour Around and Sinking of Subsea Structures Exposed to Current and Waves", co-authored by Roghayeh Ghasempour and B. Mutlu Sumer. Additionally, Utku Yılmaz made a presentation titled "Numerical Modeling of Residual #Liquefaction Around Submarine Pipelines and Offshore Cables”, co-authored by a team from NuLIMAS and  INF4INiTY projects. Both research works form an important part of Work Package 3 (WP3) of the INF4INiTY project. It has been a very fruitful conference with great exchange of ideas! We are looking forward to sharing more results in the upcoming events.

💡 All about the #INF4INiTY project 🌊 Work Package 1 – Front-End Engineering Designs (FEED) for gravity anchors and their scour protection system. ⚙ In this work package, project partners BM SUMER | Consultancy & Research, IBW PAN, GICON® Group, WIKKI, NIRAS, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, SINTEF , Leibniz Universität Hannover and Technische Universität Braunschweig will join efforts to develop nature inclusive designs (NIDs) for gravity anchors and associated scour protection systems of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs). 🐬 Site-specific solutions will be provided for the three case studies of the project: the Scottish Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic Sea. To cater for specific FEEDs, an in-depth analysis of the relevant information on the ecosystems and habitats will be carried out. This work will set forth a catalogue for NIDs applications for gravity anchors and scour protection of FOWTs. In addition to the main activities of WP1, the project consortium recently completed a scour protection course in Istanbul, Turkey, during the second General Assembly. The course, hosted by BM SUMER and delivered alongside NIRAS, included a series of informative lectures on the fundamentals of scour and the underlying morphodynamic processes.
