2 more days left to sign up for the fall cohort of IDHA's Transformative Mental Health Core Curriculum training! It's an incredible program with lots of flexibility in how you can participate.

I'm very excited to announce that I'll be one of the learning group facilitators for this fall's Core Curriculum training experience with the Institute for the Development of Human Arts! Check out more info below: Have you ever felt like the tools you were given as a care provider aren’t enough? Wondered if perhaps you were set up to fail and the system itself wasn’t designed to support lasting healing and change? Have you endured cycles of burnout and powerlessness and wondered – are there better ways of providing support? IDHA’s Transformative Mental Health Core Curriculum is a new, in-depth virtual training designed to break the harmful patterns that characterize our current approaches to mental health care and pave a more liberatory future for all. It’s approved for 20.75 CE credits, offers accessible pricing options, and features 22 hours of self-guided video content and perspectives from dozens of faculty members. This training is for people who want to gain tangible advocacy skills, transform how they approach personal and collective healing, and shift broader systems of care. This is an invitation to bridge the gap between the reality of mental health services and a world in which people’s autonomy and self-determination are truly centered. The Core Curriculum is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge spanning dozens of disciplines, social movements, geographies, and perspectives. You’ll learn how to: ✨ Honor and integrate lived experience in care work ✨ Creatively assess the unique strengths of various care approaches and tools ✨ Examine power and privilege and how it shows up in practice ✨ Approach individual and collective stories through a lens of meaning making ✨ Hold complexity and validate multiple truths at the same time ✨ Respect agency and choice ✨ Embrace uncertainty and sitting with discomfort Visit https://lnkd.in/dBZxu_mP to learn more and sign up today!

Tomorrow is the day! Join me as I lead the opening plenary with my colleagues at NCTSN's All-Network Conference 📚 Gender-affirming care has been shown to be life-saving for transgender and gender diverse youth, and it is recognized as a standard of care by all major medical associations. However, misinformation about this care is increasingly widespread, and access is becoming even more significantly limited. Our panel will build awareness of the evidence-base and history of gender affirming care, including what it means to operate within the standards of care and ethical practice. #genderaffirmingcare #safety #traumainformedcare #systemschange

I have the pleasure of facilitating the opening plenary at NCTSN's Engaging in Trauma Informed Care and Creating Safety in a Polarized Environment. How can clinicians address pervasive misinformation campaigns which polarize views on trauma-informed care? Our panel experts will blend professional and living expertise to deconstruct assumptions about “specialty care” and how gender diversity has been pathologized within healthcare systems, building awareness of the evidence-base, standards of care, and ethical practice. #genderaffirmingcare #safety #traumainformedcare #systemschange

We are so excited for our first ever in person training with the Family Acceptance Project for Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services next month! Personally, it's been an amazing experience partnering with The Q Corner in my hometown of San Jose, CA to expand family-based support and quality care for LGBTQ+ children, youth and their families. After years of virtual training, we're looking forward to being in community for a day of training on April 23rd!

Love this insightful post from Rebecca Minor, LICSW about why it's important to include pronouns in your signature!

View profile for Rebecca Minor, graphic

Gender Specialist. Speaker. Professor. DEI Consultant. Clinician.

“Why should I include my pronouns in my email signature, if I’m not trans or non-binary?” This simple act can be a powerful form of allyship. For those of us privileged enough never to worry about being misgendered, it’s easy to overlook the significance of pronouns. But not everyone has that privilege. By normalizing the inclusion of pronouns in our email signatures, we not only make it a standard practice but also alleviate the pressure on those for whom being correctly gendered is a daily struggle. This small gesture goes a long way in signaling awareness and creating a safer, more welcoming environment for our colleagues. It shows that you respect and acknowledge the diversity of gender identities. Adding pronouns to your email signature is a positive step, but it’s just the beginning. True allyship requires ongoing learning, understanding, and action. It’s about continually educating ourselves on gender diversity, listening to the experiences of transgender and non-binary individuals, and advocating for inclusive policies and practices. This commitment to active allyship is how we move beyond the bare minimum and work towards creating truly inclusive communities where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued. Let’s not just make a gesture; let’s commit to making a difference. Because fostering an environment of respect and acceptance starts with recognizing the importance of each individual’s identity, and continues with our unwavering support and advocacy. If your organization would benefit from learning more about active allyship, reach out! #Inclusivity #Allyship #ProfessionalDevelopment #DiversityAndInclusion
