Tomorrow is the day! Join me as I lead the opening plenary with my colleagues at NCTSN's All-Network Conference 📚 Gender-affirming care has been shown to be life-saving for transgender and gender diverse youth, and it is recognized as a standard of care by all major medical associations. However, misinformation about this care is increasingly widespread, and access is becoming even more significantly limited. Our panel will build awareness of the evidence-base and history of gender affirming care, including what it means to operate within the standards of care and ethical practice. #genderaffirmingcare #safety #traumainformedcare #systemschange

I have the pleasure of facilitating the opening plenary at NCTSN's Engaging in Trauma Informed Care and Creating Safety in a Polarized Environment. How can clinicians address pervasive misinformation campaigns which polarize views on trauma-informed care? Our panel experts will blend professional and living expertise to deconstruct assumptions about “specialty care” and how gender diversity has been pathologized within healthcare systems, building awareness of the evidence-base, standards of care, and ethical practice. #genderaffirmingcare #safety #traumainformedcare #systemschange

We are so excited for our first ever in person training with the Family Acceptance Project for Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services next month! Personally, it's been an amazing experience partnering with The Q Corner in my hometown of San Jose, CA to expand family-based support and quality care for LGBTQ+ children, youth and their families. After years of virtual training, we're looking forward to being in community for a day of training on April 23rd!

Love this insightful post from Rebecca Minor, LICSW about why it's important to include pronouns in your signature!

Gender Specialist. Speaker. Professor. DEI Consultant. Clinician.

“Why should I include my pronouns in my email signature, if I’m not trans or non-binary?” This simple act can be a powerful form of allyship. For those of us privileged enough never to worry about being misgendered, it’s easy to overlook the significance of pronouns. But not everyone has that privilege. By normalizing the inclusion of pronouns in our email signatures, we not only make it a standard practice but also alleviate the pressure on those for whom being correctly gendered is a daily struggle. This small gesture goes a long way in signaling awareness and creating a safer, more welcoming environment for our colleagues. It shows that you respect and acknowledge the diversity of gender identities. Adding pronouns to your email signature is a positive step, but it’s just the beginning. True allyship requires ongoing learning, understanding, and action. It’s about continually educating ourselves on gender diversity, listening to the experiences of transgender and non-binary individuals, and advocating for inclusive policies and practices. This commitment to active allyship is how we move beyond the bare minimum and work towards creating truly inclusive communities where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued. Let’s not just make a gesture; let’s commit to making a difference. Because fostering an environment of respect and acceptance starts with recognizing the importance of each individual’s identity, and continues with our unwavering support and advocacy. If your organization would benefit from learning more about active allyship, reach out! #Inclusivity #Allyship #ProfessionalDevelopment #DiversityAndInclusion
