🔆 Wind and solar power are growing and for good reason. But, as wind and solar, or variable renewable energy, supplies more of the grid, natural gas production will also become more important to provide "capacity insurance," keeping the grid reliable. #CleanEnergyTransition

There may be no more important question for the United States than whether #China is becoming a real innovator. If China has advanced to the point where it can develop new-to-the-world innovations faster or at roughly the same pace as the United States and allied nations, its potential to displace U.S. and allied technology-based companies and capabilities is much greater. So, to answer the question “Can China Innovate?” ITIF investigated its innovative capabilities in 10 industries. As Rob Atkinson explains, while the evidence suggests China hasn’t yet taken the overall lead, it has pulled ahead in certain areas, and in many others Chinese firms will likely equal or surpass Western firms within a decade or so. ☀️💨 Wind and solar are growing in popularity, but they can’t always provide steady power since the wind isn't always blowing and the sun can't always shine. Robin Gaster says gas is key to fill these variables until better energy storage is developed. https://lnkd.in/ea7SF7pZ

Most Americans live with the world at their fingertips—shopping, staying connected, and accessing endless information with just a tap. But when it comes to proving identity, we’re still stuck reaching for physical IDs. As more of our daily lives shift online, the absence of digital identity solutions is becoming a bigger problem. While countries around the world are moving ahead, the U.S. lags behind, with only a few states offering mobile driver’s licenses. Senior Policy Manager Ash Johnson explains how we can advance widespread adoption of #digitalIDs: ☑️ States should update laws to accept digital IDs. ☑️ Congress should pass the Improving Digital Identity Act and establish a grant program to help states. ☑️ Federal agencies should start accepting government-issued digital IDs. ☑️ The State Department should form agreements with other countries to accept each other’s digital IDs. It’s time for a national initiative to give all Americans convenient and #secure digital ID access. 🪪📲 🔗 Check out the full report on adopting a national standard for digital IDs: https://lnkd.in/gSH9Mevj #techpolicy #techinnovation
