Our Lancaster location is ready for our first Evkeeza patient on Friday! Evkeeza is a monthly one-hour infusion, adjunct to other low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol lowering therapies (Ex: Leqvio) for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients (age 5 and up), with the rare condition of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH). The patient is very excited to receive Evkeeza and continue Leqvio close to home at Infuse One Ohio Lancaster!

Infuse One Ohio is happy to present our first patient spotlight! Our sweet Lyudmila has been receiving Leqembi infusions at Infuse One Ohio since February of this year. She and her family were more than willing to share her story, their experience with her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and journey of being treated with Leqembi thus far. Lyudmila was born and lived most of her life in St. Petersburg, Russia, where she had a career as the Director of Economics at a University. “It’s hard not to love St. Petersburg” she stated during our conversation. She has two children and two grandchildren whom she loves deeply. Lyudmila has always loved to travel (especially to Egypt), go to the theater, and absolutely loves learning about history. She has been an avid walker her whole life many times going on 2 walks a day at the park. Lyudmila suffered from a heart attack a little over three years ago which she stated, “started all of this”. After she had recovered, she again took her frequent walks, where she noticed herself forgetting where she was going. Her family also noticed lapses in her memory, becoming increasingly worried. Her daughter, Yana, decided to be proactive, noticing these changes in her mother. Once she received the Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Yana was quick to research how she could help her mother. The family began implementing activities into their daily routines to help with Lyudmila’s memory, her favorite is taking pictures throughout to remember her day. Lyudmila’s granddaughter, Sarah, who was present for translation during the interview stated, “she has taken this all with great stride, I think it comes back to her being such a positive person naturally, she doesn’t let this affect her too much”. Yana, continuing to advocate for her mother, then found Leqembi as an option, and began speaking to their Neurologist to explore this as an option. Lyudmila met protocol for Leqembi and was referred to Infuse One Ohio to receive treatment. Since starting treatment Lyudmila’s family has noticed a tremendous difference with Sarah stating “it’s been insane, the changes we’ve noticed”. They report she has been happier, with less repetition and confusion. Sarah also stated that Lyudmila now remembers coming to Infuse One and talks about the staff at home, differing from her initial appointments where she would quickly forget what she had done that day. When asked about her experience at Infuse One, Lyudmila stated that she has never liked hospitals, IVs, or even blood so she was nervous about the treatments. But she said the staff has made it very comfortable. “Everyone is so nice and gentle, and these girls always have the softest hands” she smiled. Sarah then stated that Infuse One’s staff has made this such an enjoyable experience for their family and Lyudmila is always happy to see us even though she doesn't necessarily like the needle poke at the beginning of each treatment.

And our team continues to grow!!! A warm welcome to Jessica Stelmach! We are so excited to have her on our team! Here's a little about Jess. "Hi! I'm Jessica and I've been a nurse for 13 years! I graduated from Otterbein College in 2010 and I started my career at The Ross Heart Hospital at OSU where I was a bedside nurse for 6 years. I then went into management in cardiology for several years. I most recently worked at Nationwide Children's Hospital Emergency Department as a staff nurse! I am currently working towards my Master's in Heathcare Innovation at The Ohio State University. My husband and I have three young kids that keep us very busy! In our free time, we love to travel, be outdoors, and cycle! I am excited to be on the team at Infuse One!"

We are so excited for our new infusion nurse to start next week that we just have to introduce her, or should I say let her introduce herself! "Hi, Im Alivia! I started my career at Grant Medical Center as a emergency room/trauma nurse, where I expanded my knowledge and skill set very quickly. Eventually I moved on to pre-op and pacu at an eye surgery center. Prior to becoming a nurse I worked in nursing homes and with hospice patients providing one on one individualized care. I enjoy getting to know my patients and making them feel comfortable in unfamiliar situations. In my free time you can find me at the motocross track, hiking with my dogs or traveling to new places in and out of the country!" Welcome to the team Alivia!
