    On October 17th, the world observes the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, dedicated to raising awareness about the global fight against poverty in all its dimensions. Despite significant progress, poverty remains a pressing issue. As of 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑, approximately 𝟗.𝟐% of the world’s population—or 𝟔𝟖𝟗 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 people—continue to live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $𝟐.𝟏𝟓 a day (𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑). Economic inequality, lack of access to education, and social injustice are just a few of the factors contributing to this persistent challenge. In terms of poverty reduction, agriculture plays a vital role, especially in developing economies. Crop protection is crucial in this regard for ensuring food security and sustainable livelihoods; pests, diseases, and unpredictable weather patterns, often exacerbated by climate change, pose significant threats to crops. The Dinglun Flywheel Energy Storage Power Station, a groundbreaking development, has a 30 𝐌𝐖 power output and features 120 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐥𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬. This project is a pioneering effort in mechanical energy storage and provides crucial grid services like frequency regulation and power balancing. Flywheel energy storage is a 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲. By accelerating a rotor (flywheel) to high speeds, it can store and release energy quickly, making it ideal for grid stability applications like frequency regulation.
