IDG was honored to attend yesterday’s ground breaking for DR Horton’s newest office in Central Florida. Our firm provided landscape architecture, hardscape, irrigation and signage design for their West Orlando office headquarters. DR Horton is America’s largest home builder with over one million homes built since their creation in 1978. #InnovationsDesignGroup #IDG #DRHorton #LandscapeDesignArchitects #LDA #Orlando #Florida #GroundBreaking

IDG is proud to have worked with such a great team on the project. Its fantastic seeing the project built. Great job to all!
Pride in our work is a quality I respect and appreciate. We spend most of our lives working, and if we can’t be proud of those efforts and achievements…then what was the point of it all? I love to see others share pride in their work, and in the case of Link Construction Group we share that pride in the amazing project we just completed for the Miami Association of Realtors. They have highlighted the project in their publication of the LiNK Ledger. Cheers to the project team on an epic build that will be experienced by most of the local miami realtors, and many international realtors a like. It will be a landmark in the City of Miami Springs for a long time. Did you know that incorporating well-placed trees on your property can significantly reduce heat? 5 ways trees keep us cool: 1 - SHADING: Trees provide direct shade, which can lower surface and ambient temperatures. By shading buildings, walkways, parking lots, and outdoor seating areas, trees reduce the heat absorbed by these surfaces by as much as 20-45 degrees F, which in turn reduces the heat radiated into the environment. 2 - HEAT ISLAND MITIGATION: Urban heat islands occur when natural land cover is replaced with dense concentrations of pavement, buildings, and other surfaces that absorb and retain heat. Trees help mitigate heat islands by shading these surfaces and providing cooling through evapotranspiration, thus reducing overall temperatures. 3 - THERMAL MASS EFFECT: Trees, particularly large ones, can serve as thermal masses that absorb and slowly release heat, moderating temperature fluctuations. This can help maintain cooler temperatures during the day and reduce the intensity of heat waves. 4 - ENERGY EFFICIENCY: Shading by trees can reduce the cooling load on buildings, decreasing the need for air conditioning. This not only reduces energy consumption but also lowers the emission of heat from air conditioning units, further contributing to a cooler environment. 5 - REFLECTIVE COOLING: Trees with broad leaves can reflect a portion of incoming solar radiation, preventing it from reaching the ground and heating up surfaces. This reflective cooling effect contributes to the overall reduction of heat on the property. Planning ahead to implement the right trees and placement into your landscape design project can create a more comfortable and energy-efficient environment, benefiting both the property owner and the wider community. 🌀 With Hurricane Season lasting 6 months out of the year, it’s important to consider the resilience of our green friends when planning your project’s landscape design. 🌿 Here's a quick guide on trees that weather the storm and those that struggle: 🌴 HURRICANE HEROES: + Palm Trees: Very well-suited to withstand hurricane winds of up to 145 miles per hour due to their strength, flexibility, and ability to shed leaves. + Live Oaks: With their robust root systems, these giants stand strong against powerful winds. + Bald Cypress: Known for their ability to thrive in wet conditions, these trees are resilient to both wind and flooding. + Crape Myrtles: Their flexible branches help them bend rather than break during high winds. + Southern Magnolias: Despite their large leaves, they can withstand strong winds due to their sturdy branches. 🛑 HURRICANE HAZARDS: - Willows: Their shallow roots make them susceptible to being uprooted during storms. - Poplars: Fast-growing but weak-wooded, these trees often suffer extensive damage in hurricanes. - Pines: While some varieties are more resilient, many pine species have shallow roots and are prone to toppling in high winds. - Bradford Pear: Their branch structure is prone to splitting, making them vulnerable during storms. Remember, proper tree maintenance and strategic planting can help mitigate risk during hurricane season. We at IDG can provide your projects with beautiful landscapes that will weather the storm. . . #IDG #InnovationsDesignGroup #HurricaneSeason #LandscapeDesign #LandscapeArchitecture
