Climate Week NYC is here. Below, explore the slate of programs and events taking place at the Museum this week! Details: https://bit.ly/3XHUWDx 📷 Earlier this month, the Inside Out Project's Photobooth truck visited the Museum. Over 650 people had their portraits taken and reflected on the question, “As climate change reshapes our lives, what stories of transformation and dreams of a healthier future do you carry with you?” More than 150 of the portraits captured by the Photobooth truck will be on display in the Portraits on Climate and Health: Dreams We Carry installation in the Museum’s Ellen V. Futter Gallery. You can also see a rotating mosaic of projections from the Photobooth in the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation during #ClimateWeekNYC. 🎥 Join us tonight for the NYC premiere of The Wayfinders film series! This collection of short documentaries showcases Indigenous leadership in sustaining our planet during a time of global climate change. Link in bio for tickets. This program, an extension of the Margaret Mead Film Festival, is hosted in collaboration with the Wayfinders Circle. 🎤 How can science, policy, and society transform climate challenges into opportunities for a healthier world? Museum President Sean Decatur will moderate a discussion on 9/25 exploring how we can leverage scientific and cultural strategies to advance a more sustainable world. This event is free with RSVP. The panel and installations are part of Canopy, Wellcome Trust’s citizen art and science festival, bringing health to the heart of Climate Week NYC. 🌎 Visit the Hall of Planet Earth to learn about key climate indicators with new data visualization from NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio. Driven by the belief that education can change lives, a school community in Lubumbashi, DRC, came together to create 'The Next Generation of Leaders.' With nearly 200 portraits, this Action highlights the importance of educating girls in a region where 49.5 million are out of school, according to UNESCO. It calls to inspire communities worldwide to support and uplift the next wave of changemakers. Discover more here: https://lnkd.in/e86bP_AN

TBT! Last June, our Photobooth truck visited Porto, Portugal, and captured the faces of nearly 400 participants who took a stand against the dangers of misinformation in the digital age. Just a week later, their portraits were displayed around Leça do Balio Monastery, forming a stunning mosaic for visitors to wander through and reflect on.
