A beautiful morning in Morganton today, Oct. 12, as District Director Mike Arriola and Team SBA Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience reached out to the Hmong community at the Western Piedmont Community College Foothills Higher Ed Center to showcase available disaster assistance for this audience with FEMA officials. North Carolina is home to the fourth largest Hmong community, after California, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Hmong in our state are centered in Burke and surrounding counties. Sendra Y. (Yang), President of the NC Hmong Women's Association, was a chief organizer of the event. After the discussion, the community formed an impromptu drive-thru queue to pick up food and supplies collected in part by Ann Gonzales, President of the Charlotte-based Carolinas Asian-American Chamber of Commerce. #wholeofcommunity #hmongcommunity #nchmong #sbadisasterassistance White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders

SBA HURRICANE RELIEF UPDATE 🎇 SBA has expanded the list of eligible counties to include more counties that can benefit from the full suite of disaster loan offerings. A graphic showing the current picture with those changes appears below. 🎇 In addition, today (Oct. 9), a Disaster Recovery Center opened at 1 pm at AC Reynolds High School in Buncombe County, southeast of downtown Asheville. The DRC is operated by FEMA and includes SBA Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience personnel to help individual homeowners, renters, businesses, and private nonprofits with disaster loan needs. After today, the DRC will be open seven days a week from 8 am to 7 pm until further notice. The DRC at AC Reynolds joins the three SBA locations earlier announced on this page. Feel free to repost. #sbadisasterassistance #hurricanehelene
