🌍 World Stroke Day: Did You Know? 1. Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke (CDC). Recognizing symptoms early can make all the difference in saving a life and preventing long-term effects. 2. Up to 80% of strokes are preventable (American Stroke Association). Managing blood pressure, quitting smoking, and exercising regularly are some ways to reduce your risk. 3. Women are at higher risk for stroke than men (CDC). Hormonal factors, pregnancy, and menopause can increase this risk, making regular check-ups and healthy lifestyle choices especially important. This week, we're proud to shine a spotlight on our Hospice Spiritual Care Team. Here's how Reagan K. went above the call of duty to care for our patients in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene: “Spiritual Care Counselor Reagan Keith was focused on his wedding in a week when a huge need arose post-Helene. One of his colleagues was pulled out of the field to help with community relief efforts, which left a gap of visits and calls to be made quickly. Reagan shifted his focus and went above and beyond to take care of the bereavement needs of family members who recently experienced the death of a loved one. His joy of wedded bliss didn't deter him from stepping up for his fellow chaplain and those grieving.
